Need help with Continental "nonrefundable" tickets.

It could be just me, but I'm having trouble finding out exactly what the policy is for nonrefundable tickets bought from Continental. I've searched the site and I'm not coming up with the info I need.

I believe that if I can't use the tickets I purchased, I have a year to use the credit on them for another Continental flight by paying a $30 change fee and any difference in fare.

Does anyone know exactly when that year is? Is it a year from the purchase date of the tickets? Or is it a year from when the trip was originally scheduled to depart?

Is there any other way of receiving credit for these tickets besides having them reissued on another Continental flight?

Lastly, if one person in my party can't use his ticket, can we use it toward a ticket for somebody else?

I had to change a flight with Continental once. My mother-in-law was ill. They waived the change fee b/c I faxed a note from her doctor saying she was too ill to travel. She was given a credit and I believe it was for one year from the time the original ticket was issued. When I made new reservations for her a couple of months later, they just used the credit. I don't think nonrefundable tickets are transferable.

It's been a while since I flew continental, but last I knew it was 1 yr from the date of purchase. Also, airline tickets are non-transferable.

1 yr from date or purchase/issue and $50 per ticket chnage fee. cannot chnage ticket to another person's name.
