Okay I have a poll! I'm doing yellow cake and buttercream filling for my served layer on my escape cake... a lot of the people coming have allergies to chocolate, so we wanted the cake served to be as basic as possible...

Here's the dilemma... For our anniversary layer which I want to have in our room to munch on during our disneymoon, I'm stuck between yellow cake and raspberry filling or chocolate and peanut butter filling. for you who have tried it, let me know what you thought! Please!

i personally haven't tried disney's cakes yet, but i know i'd be worried about the chocolate melting all over. i do love chocolate and peanut butter cake, but i would go with the yellow and raspberry! it sounds delicious! :goodvibes

I vote for chocolate cake with peanut butter - why ruin perfectly good cake with fruit? :rotfl: Better yet, get peanut butter cup mousse - then you get a mix of peanut butter mousse and chocolate mousse! :thumbsup2

Actually, have you thought about getting cupcakes of each one instead? Why decide?

Hmm... this response doesn't surprise me very much. I think you may have a bias towards peanut butter :goodvibes

Lurky, how did I know you'd vote against fruit! :rotfl2: It's not fruit so much as I absolutely looooooove raspberries! I didn't ask about peanut butter mousse... hhmmm! "Oh, Wedding Planner! I have a question..."

Hi Johanna,

I really can't help you pick one. They both sound delicious. I think the Yellow cake with Raspberry filling sounds great but personally I don't know if I could live without chocolate.

DH and I had Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter filling for our anniversary layer and ate it throughout our honeymoon and it was delicious.

BUT one of the layers we served our guests was Yellow cake with White Chocolate filling and Strawberries and I think that was even better! Normally, I am a White Chocolate HATER, but I think this cake cured me. DH loved the Choc and PB better though.

For our Disney anniversary trip next year, we are going to try to get two small cakes, one of each, since we loved them both so much.

If you add white chocolate to the Yellow cake with Raspberry (or strawberry) filling, I may have to vote for that. Otherwise it's a tie for me.

Your cake sounds delicious with white chocolate! Between you and Carrie I'm going to have a four layer cake for 20 people! :rotfl2:

:lmao: Hey, why not, we both had 3 layer cakes for less than 40 people!! You can send your guests back to their hotels with extra slices of cake!

I officially vote for 4 layers!!! :thumbsup2 Seriously though, you could choose two layers now and get two small cakes, with the third and fourth place winners made for your anniversary, if you plan on going back!

I really really wanted red velvet like Carrie had for one of her layers, but only my Tennessee guests and I (born in TN) would have appreciated it. I don't think my MIL, DH and most of the NJ guests would have even tried it. :(

The chocolate cake won't melt, even if you have a layer of ganache as I did in my bottom layer along with the peanut butter mousse! Thats because it has buttercream frosting out the outside! My anni layer is still covered in the fondant too to keep it fresher :goodvibes I'm just like Carrie on the old tastebuds! I vote chocolate cake with pb filling =)

I did 3 layers for 18 people - we LOVED the extra cake and even shared it with our guests!! Our layers were chocolate with chocolate ganache and raspberry jam, almond with buttercream and raspberry jam, and chocolate with chocolate mouse. All were delicious. That was the hardest part of cake tasting, they were all good!!

choc with pb fer sure.. not that i've tasted it.. but i dont need to.. i love me some pb and choc! i like the pb mouse and choc mouse idea.. i laos love the idea of choc cake with white choc and strawberries.. oh man.. yumm

Carrie, do they really have PB filling AND Peanut Butter Cup Mousse filling?

I couldn't go down for a PS and the list they sent me only included Peanut Butter Cup Mousse as an option. I wonder how different that would have made the cake. :confused3

Yes! There's a straight peanut butter filling, and then the peanut butter cup filling is PB mousse layered with chocolate mousse. The straight PB mousse is kinda tangy (I think its base is the cream cheese filling), so I liked having the sweetness of the choc mousse to cut it a bit.

Wow! I guess that was a good thing then. I would have had a super hard time choosing between PB and PB Cup Mousse. So I guess they did me a favor by leaving PB out.

You two have confused me... lol... which one would I want for the chocolate cake... PB filling or PB mousse filling? :confused3 Is it on the list or do i have to ask for it special?

sorry - I mixed my terms. The choices are:

Peanut Butter Mousse (straight PB mousse)
Peanut Butter Cup Mousse (PB mousse mixed with Chocolate mousse)

Personally, I liked Peanut Butter Cup Mousse better, and it might be a little less frightening to your non-PB loving guests than straight-up PB Mousse...

Sorry about that. They only put PB Cup Mousse on my list. So I didn't even know about PB Mousse.

Chocolate Cake with PB Mousse Cup was delicious!

Out of those two choices I would go with the chocolate/pb mousse. I didn't like the rasberry at all. I would mix the cake flavor up anyways, since you are already have a layer of yellow cake. JMO

I voted for chocolate peanutbutter...my mom and I were dying to have that as part of my wedding cake! Unfortunately, my DH eats peanut butter on everything (including roast beef sandwiches) except chocolate :scared1: He hates chocolate & peanut butter together (so unamerican, I KNOW!) So we didn't get a chocolate peanut butter layer :(

He doesn't like PB and chocolate? How on earth did you marry him with that flaw?! :rotfl: jk, that's okay I bet he's a great husband anyway! I think I'm going with PB and chocolate because that's what everyone says is delicious! I wno't mess with disbrides!

I do love raspberry though, so someone gave me a great idea of when we go back for our 1st anniversary to get two mini cakes... I think I'll get yellow cake/raspberry filling then! You guys are full of awesome ideas!
