Need help with BWV

I know there have been many, many threads about what view to choose at BWV. So many threads that I think I'm more confused now than I was before I read them.

The one thing I did read was that depending where you room is located, you could have a long walk to the elevators.

If being close to the elevators is important to me, can anyone suggest a view to request if I want to be close to the elevators?

I know requesting a standard view will save on points but I don't want to wake up in the morning and stare at a parking lot or driveway while I'm having my coffee either.

If there are nice views from a standard view near the elevators, please let me know. If not, do you suggest I ask for a boardwalk view or a preferred view near the elevators?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I forgot, I need a 1 bedroom if that's make a difference and I'm looking to book a trip at BWV for October 2007, specifically the week of Columbus Day.

The elevators are near the Luna Park pool (towards the leisure pool), so I don't think there are rooms near the elevators with a Boardwalk view. I know we had a dead on view of the Luna Park pool in a studio and we were about 6-8 rooms down the corridor on the left side. It was a bit of a hike to get all the way down the corridor from where our room was.

One time I had a 1 bedroom boardwalk view near the boat dock, about 5 doors from the elevators. Last time we were above the Big River Grill, it was more of a walk.

Unless you are disabled, I think the long walks are exagerated. It seems longer because of the narrow hallways. Never hear any complaints that it's too far to walk down Main Street.

But when you walk down Main Street there is something to see. I think that's the biggest complaint. Just a long narrow corridor with nothing to see.

BW has very long walking hallways to your room. After a long walk into the parks then a long walk to your room. Can be very tiring on every one.
Standard view is of the parking lot you can ask for a standard view that would include MGM. Have a great trip   party: party: party:

I had a studio, preferred view, and we overlooked the Village Green. This was very close to the elevator.

Getting a standard view may not even be an option for you if you don't own at BWV. By the 7 month window, you will be lucky to get anything at BWV. October is an extremely busy time for both BWV and BCV, especially since points are lower and F&W are at EPCOT (and Colombus Day week is probably the busiest time in October.) I know folks who called at the 7 month window, day by day and are still on the wait list and that was 5 months ago. We had a standard room (actually 2 different studios). One faced the valet parking lot and grassy area, but you still looked at the parking lot, while my daughters faced the driveway in and out of the front of the resort. That is pretty much the choices for standard view. View is not important to us, so we were happy. IF the view is important, I would not request standard, as there is no guarantee that your view will suit you.

I'm with the group that thinks the generalization above is overblown. People who have reviewed resort blueprints have stated that certain hallways at the Swan and The Grand Floridian are actually longer than anything at the Boardwalk!!!

I have to disagree. We just got back from BWV and had a Boardwalk view. We were in 1003 which is on the Swan side of Big River. That walk from the bus stop or parking lot and then down the hallways got very old after a while. The problem is regardless of whether you have a preferred or Boardwalk view you could still have a very long walk. It just depends upon how close you are to the elevators or the exit for 1st floor. I know after the week I was very tired from walking the hallways. It made me appreciate more staying at say SSR or OKW where you can park more at your front door. The trouble is it all depends upon what is available when you check in.

We always stay in a standard room and do not have any problem with the view. Because the villas angle away from the road, there is quite a bit of lawn between the driveway and the rooms.

We've never been really close to the elevators, but because we don't mind using the stairs, it can make getting to the pools, MGM & the sidewalk to the bus stop much quicker than going back to the elevators depending on your location.

Here's a picture of the standard view villas and the view.

Last August we were three floors above where you were, in 4001, which is at the absolute end of the hall.

We loved that villa. Why?

Because of the curve of the building, Boardwalk view villas at that far end inarguably have the best view of Illuminations. Also, because one side of the villa was against unoccupied staff space, things were nice and quiet at night.

Closest to the elevator rooms are: (a) standard -- those overlooking the valet/front door area; (b) boardwalk view -- those overlooking the courtyard and just around the corner a little over part of the main store; note there are only dedicated studios, dedicated 1BRs and beginning of the Grand Villas in that area which is actually close to the elevator; all 2BR's overlooking boardwalk are away from the elevator; (c) preferred other than BW view: many of the rooms overlooking the Luna Park (main) pool.

The "long" walk is about 90 seconds, normal pace, to get to the room that is the one farthest away from the elevator.

We had a standard view room on the third floor, which was a walk to the elevators. We were close to a stairway that led right down to the pool or the Boardwalk entrance.

We were in room #4123, standard view at BWV and it was a bit of walk to the elevators as we were near the end of the hallway. No biggie, especially when we were going to the Luna Pool, Epcot or MGM. There was a stairwell a few doors down that let us out right near the walkway that lead to MGM/Luna Pool/Epcot. This really helped, it was not as convenient when we returned to our room since that meant hiking up the stairs but it was still fine. Just know that if you are far from the elevators you are close to the stairwells. And we had a fantastic view of Illuminations, TOT and the end of Fantasmic from our long balcony. I think at each and every resort at WDW you will have a walk of some sort to your room. Be it a hallway, walkway or whatever. Given the size of all of these resorts, your chances of being in a convenient location to elevators, buses or whatever is slim. Sometimes the best views are in the rooms furthest from the conveniences.

If you want to be close to the elevators, then ask MS to put that request (close to elevators) on your reservation. There are some rooms close to the elevators in all 3 categories of rooms.

Best wishes -
