Can someone help me understand how booking points at a collection hotel works? We have points in" reservation status" that we were going to use for a stay at the Yacht Club. MS is telling me that a standard room is not available for the dates I want - in fact not available for the whole month. Yet, when I go to the WDW website and get a quote for the dates I want, a Standard room is available.

Aren't these reservation status points pulled from the same room inventory as a cash reservation?
Any help appreciated!

No I don't think the inventory is the same.

I would imagine that DVC contracts for a set number, or set percentage, of the cash rooms at each resort for a set price...as would a convention or wedding. Once those are booked, there would be no more rooms available to DVC.

The reality is that use of your points anywhere except at your home resort is very limited. All they have to make available is 1 at each location for Disney to be able to use all of the destinations in their advertising. No where do they tell us how much inventory is made available to DVC Members.

when are you trying to book as this could have something to do with it .

I ran into this when I needed to add a room for a son to our Halloween trip..naturally all rooms at VGC were full, no surprise, but what I did find surprising was that all that was available at DLH was the Premium view which is, of course, super high in points...

VGC is a very small resort. Unless you book at 7 months out at the latest, you might not get anything there. And even 7 months out may be too late.
