We are cruising on the Fantasy (Eastern) at the end of January . Not really planning an excursion but would like to maybe take in some beach time for a few hours. Heard of Cane Garden Bay and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on this beach? Is it worth a cab ride too? Or is it small and run down? Also considered the Baths would love to see it but was wondering if it's possible to get to it without the climb? I have some back and knee issues ( minor) but didn't want to chance it. Do think that would take more than a few hours though. Can you do the baths on your own without the cruise excursion? Also is it possible to do Meghan's Bay and shop around town a bit and still make it back to ship in time on St Thomas?
Also their are no children involved, just 4 adults.
Thanks!

Cane Garden Bay beach is great. Was there in April on the Fantasy. I think the cab ride was $8 pp each way. It was a 20 minutes (very pretty but also very windy) drive. Beach not run down at all! It was beautiful and not very crowded when we were there. Bathrooms clean. Restaurant nice. Place on beach to get stand up paddle boards, floats, rafts, etc. Taxi stand right at beach for when you want to go back to the port.

Yes. Cabs to and from Meghan's Bay are plentiful.

We went to Cane Garden Bay last week when the seas were to rough for the ferry to Virgin Gorda. It was a nice beach with soft sand and small waves. Nothing out of this world amazing but we had a nice day there. We were able to get chairs and an umbrella for $5 each. There were several little tikki bar huts along the beach for drinks and some places for food right near the entrance to the beach. There are some more secluded beaches on Tortola that you can try too. This one was recommended to us as best for families with younger kids.

Thank you so much for your replies! Does anyone know the names of other beaches on Tortola not too far from the ship? About how long does it take to get to Meghan's Bay from the ship dock?

Right when you get off the ship in Tortola there was a little tourist information tent. They gave us a map and told us about the different beaches.

We just cruised the Fantasy EC last week. Cane's Garden Bay is fine, worth the taxi ride if you want time at the beach, but nothing extraordinary. I would try to do the Baths if possible instead of Cane Garden Bay.

Megan's Bay is nice and very easy to get to by taxi: $8 per person each way, plus $5 per adult to enter the beach. Bring cash for the taxis and entrance fee.

Yes, you can easily do an hour or two at the beach, then something else for an hour or two near the port, and still have ample time before having to reboard the ship. It was so easy for us that we slept in, had a late breakfast, taxied to Megan's & swam for an hour, taxied back & changed our clothes on the ship, then walked back out to Skyride at Paradise Point. We still got back to the Fantasy two hours early.

We are headed to St. Thomas on the Fantasy next week. The Skyride at Paradise Point- is this something that you can walk to from where the ship is docked? Do you need tickets ahead of time, or can you walk up and pay? Thanks in advance Shanti.

Yes, you can walk to Paradise Point from the ship easily (10 minutes max) and you can either pay them directly or get tickets via DCL. Tickets will be the same price either way. DCL doesn't provide transportation to Paradise Point because it is so close to the ship.
