Hi gang! I am a WW and know very little about Atkins. With that said, I am working on a treat for a friend and I wanted to include some Atkins friendly treats, can you guys give me some ideas?

Are you looking for sweet treats? I found this one on an Atkins support board. DH and I love them.

Clouds
8 oz cream cheese
1/4 c splenda (6 packets)
1 stick unsalted butter
1 tsp pure vanilla or other flavored extract

In bowl, soften to room temp the butter and cheese. Add vanilla & splenda and mix w/ mixer til smooth. Line cookie sheet w/ parchment. Measure 1/2 tsp dollops onto sheet and freeze. When frozen store in freezer in a baggy. total carbs is 18...divided by how many pieces you get and that's your carb count. I usually end up w/ about 55 piece so about .3 carbs per piece.

I also usually use peppermint extract. They make a good after-dinner mint.

I've also read that you can add a little bit (not sure how much) cocoa powder to the recipe for a bit of a change.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. But I am not looking for something to make, I want to buy something to put into something. Are there any candies that are legal on Atkins? Hard candies maybe?

Hi Debbi,
Russell Stover sugar free candy is great, if you can get it. (If you are near a commissary, they do carry it, as well as Reese's Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups.) Both are very good. You can order Sugar Free/low carb candy through Ashers (do a google search) as well.
If not sweet treats, then hard salami bite sized pieces, as well as cheese cubes are also available at the commissary.
There are lots of sugar free hard candies out there too, just check the carb count. (carbs - sugar alcohol - fiber = net carbs. Those are what we count.)
Hope this helps!

If she likes beef jerky that is allowed as are pork rinds. There are also breakfast bars from Atkins and some snack foods--but they are expensive. We also eat the De-Lite Bars from Walmart (.96 and they taste like chocolate).

Hershey's has great Sugar Free Candy as well!! :) Also Carbolite is an Atkins friendly product too! :)

Nuts are good too........

I do Macadamia nuts, peanuts, walnuts, almonds. They're high in fiber- so just about all of the carbs disappear when you figure your net carbs.

Happy shopping!!

Be careful with the Russel Stovers...the "sugar free" are different than their "low Carb". I think the low carb are in the red package. Getting something just labeled 'sugar free' can still be high in carbs and if you don't know how many carbs a person allows themselves each day, it could be an 'expensive' treat.

I think nuts are a really great idea, especially Macadamia, which are a little more expensive so, for me at least, a really nice special treat.
