I just found out that I have to work on the day we are supposed to fly out. I get off work at one and there is a flight available that would have us there by 7pm. Is this too late to get a good room? Would I be better off tyring to find someone to work for me and fly out at 7am? I'm concerned because this trip is for our 1st anniversary :love2: . We booked a standard room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, because we could not afford the savannah. I would like a decent standard view like some of the pics I've seen (one even had birds sitting on their roof :goodvibes ). I would hate to get there and have a view of a garbage can. Thanks for all your advice.

My understanding (and I may be wrong) is that your room is pre selected and your arrival time has little or nothing to do with what room you get upon check in. Having said that if they are not fully booked and are giving free upgrades to new arrivals, the earlier you get there the better the chances of getting one.

All in all, I don't think it matters if you arrive at 7am or 7pm your original room assignment is already predetermined. Sometimes they take your requests into account, sometimes they don't

You can also have it noted on your ressie that you will be arriving late. We arrived around 10pm to the WL in October. We got a great courtyard view - Ihad requested inner courtyard because some courtyard rooms look over the villas. Didn't want that. I was a bit worried, but it all turned out fine.

The 1 time I had a evening arrival, I was not happy. I arrived at the ASMu around 7pm to find that even though I had paid for a prefered room, none were available. Unfortunaltely the only direct flight from my city is the evening one, so I either have to arrive late or spend all day traveling. Honestly, for my vacation next year, I am going to choose the latter. I do beleive if you arrive early you have a better shot at a nicer room. :sunny:

I may be mistaken too, but I remember reading that one of the benefits of using DME is that your room gets assigned when you arrive at the airport. That fact leads me to believe that rooms are not preselected, but rather assigned as one arrives at the resort. The benefit would be that you would not have to arrive at the resort to have your room assigned until then.

If you have your heart set on a specific view I don't think arriving late would be to your advantage. I would not count on upgrades either.

I do hope you find a solution to your dilema :goodvibes To me missing out on at least an evening worth of activities would overrule a set view.

Don't worry about it and have a good time. When you are there, the last thing that will concern you is your view.

TAKtty,
You're right. Thanks. I mean we did pay for a standard view and I really don't expect anything more. I'm sure we'll have a great time. Besides we'll probably barely be in the room anyway----I have stuff planned every day for us. :)
