I've been a DVC member since 2000. And call me naive  , but my understanding of making ressies was to call 7/11 months (depending on home resort) from your check-out date.

But from what I've been reading on these boards I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong. I have often been put on a wait list and had no problems. But some are saying to call for the first day of arrival and check on availibility for your stay. I thought that wasn't info they'd give out. I've also read people call everyday? So, you're making your ressie one day at a time? Wouldn't that drive MS crazy?

Please enlighten me on this process. And does it really help ensure you get the resort and room size you want?

Thanks! :wave2:

If you want to stay the nights of December 1st to 3rd, you can call to book the first night at your Home resort on January 2nd. You can then call back on January 3rd and 4th to book the other two nights.

The same holds true for a non-Home resort, calling on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Tell Member Services to keep the reservation open when you first call, and they will make sure all of the days are eventually linked together on one reservation and you only get one confirmation in the mail.

If you are at the 7 month mark, member services will lookup the availability for your dates and tell you if you need to do day by day.

Day by Day reservations don't drive them crazy. They will encourage you to do it for really busy times of the year and they will tell you when it really isn't necessary. They really don't mind doing this at all.

MS is very helpful for the most part and will give you any information you are seeking. They may not be able to make a reservation for you becuase of 7 month rules but they will let you know where things stand for the time period you are interested in.

I really appreciate your replies! :flower: I can't believe I've been a member for almost 5 years and didn't know this valuable information

Thanks again and I look forward to using this info when I call to make my ressies in 6 weeks!! :Pinkbounc
