Need help understanding the buses at Downtown Disney. please

Can you go to Downtown Disney back and forth from the parks or do you need to go back and forth from a Disney resort to go to Downtown Disney?

There are no buses between the parks and DTD. You must transfer at a resort.

There are easier ways to get from DTD to parks, or parks to DTD. Take a bus to the nearest resort, then head to the park or DTD. Say you are at MK and want to head to DTD. Just walk over to the CR and use their bus. And reverse it if at DTD and need to get to MK.
Want to get to Epcot from DTD? Take the bus to BW/S/D or YC/BC, and then walk over to Epcot. Same thing with DHS.
AK to DTD?? Bus to AKL and then bus to DTD.

Another fun choice, if time isn't an issue, is to bus to POR, and then take the boat to DTD..or reverse it to get to a park.

One additional option is to take the SSR bus from any park, get off at the Congress Park stop within SSA and then take the short walk to DTD Marketplace from there.

That's another option as well. I just find that one to be confusing since there are so many stops at SSR. But perhaps it will become more clear to me in Dec when I actually stay there vs going to there to join friends for cocktails!!!!!
