Hi, this will be the first (and hopefully not the last) time my mother’s going to WDW on a wheelchair, she’s only been wc bound for a few weeks now, so we’re new to this.

Please help me with some questions.
Will we have problems boarding a plane with a wheel chair? She’s able to transfer, but cannot walk more than a few feet. Should we check the wc as luggage?
She’s not living in the US so we don’t have a handicapped permit. Can/should we get a temporary one?
Will the tram at the parks parking lot be able to accommodate a folded wheel chair?

We’re ecstatic she’s going to be able to go this year (we thought last years trip was going to be her last) and we want to make everything just perfect for her.

Thanks

Hello and welcome.
First gate check the wheelchair. You can take the chair right up to the plane. If she is able to walk to her seat ,great. otherwise they can use the asliechair to get her there and then she can transfer to her seat.
Just make sure your airline knows ahead of time so they can have extra help there if you need it.
For the tram a folded wheelchair does fit, just let the parking lot attendent know so they can put you near the tram stops.
Are you staying onsite? if so the buses might be a better option for some of the parks.

If she has an equivilant of a handicap parking permit, such as a UK "Blue Badge", issued by a governmental authority it will be accepted here at the parks and in the Orlando area.

We're staying off site for the first week and onsite the second one.

There are not such passes in the country she's living.

::yes::
Pudog already gave you good advice about the airplane. The only things I would add it to make sure to talk to the gate agent before boarding and let him or her know that you need to preboard and also make sure to let them know that you are planning on gate checking the wheelchair.

The official Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities says just what pugdog said about parking.
And using the buses is especially good for MK, where the bus stops near to the park entrance, while driving yourself would mean you need to ride the tram and then get a boat or the monorail to get to basically the same place that the bus lets you off.

I don't think she can get one if she is not a resident of the US (but I'm not sure).
