My family enjoys both styles of Japanese food, so do folks have any advice? I already made a Tokyo Dining ADR, but now I am wondering if I should switch to TE? If you have eaten at these places recently can you please share your experience?

Thanks so much!!!

Have not eaten at TE,but have had dinner at TD 3X and we love it. It's not inexpensive and the bill can creep up on you if you're not paying attention or keeping track of your order. But the food and service is consistently excellent. We've even seen toddlers enjoying the food there. It's one of our favorite restaurants. Get a window seat.

We have eaten at both and enjoy both. The service is terrific at Tokyo Dining
I really think it is just a decision as to which atmosphere you want for your evening. The food is good at both

Both are delicious. You get two completely different experiences. TE is more entertaining. TD has now become a favorite for us!

I have been to both more than twice and now prefer TD. If I had kids or guests in my party who hadn't experienced teppanyaki-style dining before or were unsure about the TD menu, then I'd go with TE. Personally, I prefer the food and superior service at TD. I always politely ask for a window seat & have waited no more than 10 mins for one to open up. The decor at TD isn't very interesting but the service and view out the window (esp if your meal coincides with the drum show) is incredible. TE is more rushed and much of your dining experience hinges on how personable and entertaining your cook is. TE's food is tasty but the portions are also much smaller. TD is my preferred pick after experiencing both.

We haven't been to TE but DH & I ate at Tokyo Dining in January-last minute decision. We absolute loved it & are going back with our boys in Nov. Food & service were great; we didn't have a window seat but went out on their deck to watch Illuminations & it was beautiful.

I've been to a number of very good Hibachi-type restaurants and my entire family walked out with the same feeling the last time we visited- that the meal, and experience was VERY ordinary.

I'm looking at TD--is this only good if your family likes sushi? We are NOT sushi eaters--and they seem to have some other items on the menu--just wasn't sure if it was worth it or not?

I actually enjoy the Tempura entrees at TD. The Roppongi (tempura shrimp & scallop) is my fav. I have heard mixed reviews of their steak. Whether the non-sushi dishes at TD are worth it in terms of cost, is in the eye of the beholder. I usually go when I have the Fall Free Dining so that works for me. If paying OOP, particularly if looking at kids' items and you have doubts whether your children will want to eat the food, that's more problematic. If your children like breaded shrimp and breaded chicken, they should love the light, crispy tempura batter. TD does have some decently priced lunch specials but I haven't found one that really appeals to me personally. With sushi, you are also paying a premium for freshest ingredients possible, artistry in preparation & plating, etc. so it is easier to justify the $.

The non-sushi items on the menu are excellent. The chicken karaage appetizer is the best I have had anywhere. Although we are a sushi loving family, we also enjoy the "cooked" items.

To the OP, TD is a must do for us on every trip. We have great hibachi at home so we do not need to have it at WDW.

Thanks everyone for the input! I will keep our TD ADR then. We eat early, but thought we could pick up dessert in France and then get a spot by the lake to watch the Illumiations show.
