i hope ive not left it too late, we go to DLP in 5 and a half weeks. But i have no idea where to start on how to become a shareholder. someone said before something about the halifax, i went in last week and they didnt have a clue what i was on about.
so what steps do i have to go through to become a shareholder? i am a complete newbie when it comes to this, so if anyone is kind enough to list what i have to do and what i have to have then it would be a great help. Thankyou

oh and btw i bank with llyods tsb, i dont really want to open another account with another bank if i dont have too.

Hello! will try to help if i can, I did for my dad and he was registered very quickly! he also banks with lloyds tsb but for the sake of making it easier he opened a online halifax share dealing account. basically you need to open an online account with them and tranfer £100 into it. you then buy the 20 shares online and thats it! you dont need to 'bank' with halifax again apart from in 2 years time proving you own the shares to renew the card. think my dad spoke to tsb and it wasnt as easy done so he went with it and it was fine.

you need to buy the shares first then fill in the shareholder application at disney then post/fax application and proof of ownership of shares.

they can give you a temporary card (a letter actually) but that will get you all the benefits for your trip in 5 weeks.

we bought them last january and we went end of jan/beg feb and we had letter with us and im sure when we got back card was there.

hope this helps a bit. my dads was done in a morning, opened account, bought shares, had proof, posted off! :)

will try to find thread on here too

All the info you need is in these threads here and here. Sorry it's so much to wade through ..... but Halifax seems to be the most popular option for buying shares through as (at present) they don't charge an annual maintenance fee. I paid for some for my DD for her 18th birthday last year and she found it was very easy to do. It has to be done online or by phone - it's a Halifax sharedealing account you open - although you will probably need to go into your local Halifax at some stage to identify yourself. You have to load the money up from your existing bank account to buy the shares with but once the transaction is completed you can withdraw it back into your own bank account.

Sorry nl's mummy, my post took so long to load that I didn't see you'd already posted the link to that thread.

no bother! :thumbsup2 your post was much more concise than mine! :lmao:

just try to help if I can!

Donald ducks wife - make sure it was a share dealing account and not just an online a/c (i think there is a difference) my dad was able to do it straight away (although at the time i did say to him he'd have to intercept a password! was a surprise for my mum!)

good luck! im sure it wont take long!

yeah it was a sharedealing account. i called them up first before i did it, and she said that i would ethier get my password in an email or letter, and at the end of it, it said i would get it in a letter. i called them back up, asking if it would be quicker doing it over the phone, and she said online was quicker, as over the phone will take 10 days with them sending forms for me to sign.

sorry im ranting, i have no one to talk it over with other than a grumpy teething 20 month old. and im just stressing about the unknowing, and i have no idea if i will do it right or not.

Sorry I've got to go to work now but this was how it worked with my DD, she received her password in a letter and had to take some ID down to the local Halifax to identify herself. Does your library offer a printing service too? Whatever happens, don't worry - you'll be able to get it all sorted in 5 and 1/2 weeks as DLP can issue you with a temporary shareholders certificate in lieu of your permanent card.

Thankyou for the reassurance. it looks do-able now. Will just print whatever i need out at the library and fax it from there too.

EDIT; Thankyou so much for your help ware bears xx

what documents will i need to fax to them? Sharholders application form and whatelse?

You will need to send them a copy of your Contract Note (this is the proof that you own the shares) which you can print out from the Halifax Sharedealing Account.

Hi,
Ive a quick question too!

Can I email in the shareholders application?

Sorry to crash your thread but I am really interested in buying some shares, how do I find out how much they are at the moment? Thanks

I don't think they accept emailed applications (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), I think it's either fax or snail mail.

Here, unfortunately for any prospective purchasers they are a high price at the moment.
