I am trying to convince my father and my aunt and uncle (who just want to relax) that they will enjoy a stay at the CR with my dd and me. While I would like for them to try the parks since they have so much to offer everyone, they want to know what they can do at the resort. Can anyone list some things I can tell them?
Also, can anyone rent scooters to get around the parks, or do they have to have a visible handicap or proof of one? My aunt has had knee replacement, and my father has arthritis.
Thank you!!! :)

Are they into water recreation at all?
They could rent a boat, or even go fishing. I know BASS fishing is offered, but I don't know much more about it than that.
There is parasailing too, if they are adventerous. And guests don't even get wet. Basically guests are kites on the back of a boat. ;)
There is also golf and minature golf available all over WDW.

Anyone can rent scooters, but they go fast! No proof of disability is needed.

Some non-park activities -
- Shopping!!!!!!!
- Golf
- Fishing
- Boating
- See a show - Cirque comes to mind
- Water parks....tubing or just relaxing in the sun
- Miniature golf
- Stroll along the Boardwalk
- Visit the various resorts and enjoy the different theming
- Take a tour - gardening, backstage....
- Go to the Marketplace and spend some time just taking in the scenes and enjoying the Florida sunshine

We make many trips and don't do parks. We love relaxing at the pool, renting a boat, does anyone golf? If they decide to go, try to book the Illuminations Cruise. They're wonderful. I think the resorts are so beautiful and there is always something going on. They would love it.

How about a trip to the GF for afternoon tea. A wonderful experience and very relaxing. They can rent a pontoon boat and just cruise around for an hour or two; golf anyone?; a carriage ride at FW; shopping at DTD; a ride on the monorail; better yet, monorail drink-a-thon :rotfl2: ; an evening at Jellyrolls.
See, lots to do, even if they have to leave the resort.

I also believe they can rent the scooters from an outside source, have them delivered to your resort and they can use them for the whole trip. They may have more infor on this on the Disabilities board.

My ILs enjoyed riding on the ferry to the MK and back to the GF. They stayed on and talked with the captain. By the end of our stay, my ILs knew all of the CMs. :earseek:

My parents went with us when they were in their 60's. They stuck with us and enjoyed the parks all day with us. We were at CBR and they did enjoy walking around the resort and sitting by the pool. In fact my dad said he could have spent another week just relaxing at the resort and not "doing" much of anything. Mostly though we were up early and so to bed early with not much time at the resort.
