In Tomorrowland, I remember seeing a ride that used to on or near the old peoplemover..

There were kind of like cars that had a few rows in each car, but accelerated really quick into the Startours/Space mountain ride..

I remember it was only there for a few years, then they got rid of it and I just remember saying when I come next year I'll ride that, but by the time we got around to going back to DL, it was already gone!

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about???

For a second I thought I was just dreaming it, but they did get rid of it in 2000! I wish I could have ridden this just once, just to say I rode it!

I rode it and it was fun but the line was always HUGE and went through that old building..is it where Innoventions is now? Can't remember..but the ride was like 2 minutes and the line was forever.

the line went thru part of the building that is now Buzz Light Year. you went thru the building looking at various films from the 50s and 60s about transportation, saw some various ride vehicles lit up with black lights and fluorescent paint...then after a room or two of that you went under ground thru some tunnels and then up thru the middle of the main portion of where the People mover station was....was an interesting ride, never really operated like it was supposed to and it broke down a bunch...
at least that is most of my recollection.
They also had a single rider line which made it much quicker to ride.

It was fun, but a very slow loader from what I remember......popcorn::

It did break down a LOT - and was yanked really quickly because of it.
It never got going that fast either because of the turns that had to be made on the existing people mover track - so it wasn't a great ride. Looked good, though.

It just looked so neat when you were walking underneath it...it really felt like you were in a future world...those cars looked so advanced!

I remember it but never got to ride it because I was pregnant.
It was a ride that you had to wait forever to ride, it broke down a lot and the ride itself was over in about 2 seconds flat. I remember the DH's waiting to ride it and being very disappointed in it. I don't if they were just telling us that but now I'm thinking it was.

They were telling you the truth. It was interesting, but SHORT and the line moved so slowly. Having the wait in the Circlevision theater at least helped a bit. I really wish they would bring the peoplemover back in some form.

I agree, Rocket Rods was fun, but the line was horrendous and this was before fast passes so the only way to get through it faster was to go in the single rider line.

I agree they should bring back the People Mover. It was always one of my favorite rides and it seems silly to have the track up there and not use it.

I agree!

What a waste of space..:sad2:

I agree..loved the People Movers..wasn't there a thread awhile back that said it couldn't be done because of new laws like side clearance through the rides and stuff?
Ah yes, the old CircleVision theater..OK..yes, where Buzz Lightyear is. I remember that when it was what..AT&T 360 theater..Circlevision? I got sick as a kid..it was awful I had to sit down and close my eyes..
We rode Rocket Rods once and then we got a free any ride pass thing from something else breaking and did it again. Then POOF it was gone. It made a very cool noise.

Wow, I never even knew about this ride. The last time I was there was in 1996 and it wasn't there. If it was yanked in 2000, when was it even put in? That was shortlived!

there have been several short lived attractions in Tomorrowland over the years.
The Viewliner and original Flying Saucers were both only there for about 2 years before they were removed to put in the Monorail and the Subs.

Carousel of Progress became America Sings, then sat idle for for what, 10-15 years, and reopened as Innoventions.

Used to be two Autopias, one in Tomorrowland and one in Fantasyland.
The motor boats in Fantasyland.

The stagecoach, burros, and covered wagon in Frontierland also did not last very long....along with fishing off Tom Sawyer Island.
And my favorite ride of all, the Mine train in Frontierland that was removed for BTMR.

As Walt said, Disneyland will never be finished...

Unfortunately due to limited space, some rides have to go to make room for new ones.;)

Rode it many times. Yes it broke down...a lot. And yes it was sort of silly. But I enjoyed it quite a bit! Loooooong line though. I do miss having something up on those tracks.

I think Rocket Rods lived 1998-2000. It was part of the new NEW Tomorrowland.

gosh I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'d that ride...I know it broke down alot...I remember hearing about it all the time:rotfl2:but I was so lucky..it NEVER broke down on me...and I ♥♥♥'d sitting in the very front row...it was the best...I totally miss it...slow loader and all:cloud9:

I rode on the Rocket Rods the first time I went to Disneyland in Spring of 2000 (I guess I made it just before they went down) but it was kind of scary because some bushes had overgrown on one part and the branches smacked the side of the car where I had just been resting my arm!
