I need to get my reservation paid off today.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to Target to finish buying the gift cards I need to pay it all off.
If I use my credit card today to finish paying off the reservation, can I have them apply the gift cards at the resort when I check in, and credit my cc back that amount?
I had asked a CM about it on the phone and was told no, they cannot change the form of payment and issue the credit at the resort.
But I thought I had done it once before in the past.

If I HAVE to, I can go to Target and get the gift cards today, but it is a 45 minute drive for me, so I would prefer to not have to do it!!!

Anybody know from recent experience if I can get the credit back to my card at the resort if I apply the gift cards there?

I have no personal experience with this. However, when checking in for our last stay the family next to us was trying to do what you want and were told they could not do it.

I've done it at Pop Century with no problem.

I went over my charging limit on my room key, so they automatically charged my credit card, but I wanted to use gift cards to pay off my room charges, so they just credited my account and used my gift cards.

I would call the resort if you wanted to be 100% positive.

I too am no expert but this is a final payment not a hold like on a rental car. in fact, if you cancel after this date, there they would refund the amount minus a $50, charge Do you not have a credit card that you could use today and just pay it off with the cash you would be using to get the gift cards? If not, I would say you are going to have to go get the gift cards. Or, have you called Disney to see if they use Paypal or could take it directly from your account (like most companies can). I would give them a call.

We have 7 days to do the same so I will be mailing out a check but sometimes those due dates creep up on you. Good luck.

I'm assuming you have a package (since RO balances are due at check in) and although I don't have experience with what you're asking, I would venture to say the CM is correct. Since packages have to be paid in full prior to arrival, I don't think getting a credit on your cc at check in and repaying with gc's is doable as I wouldn't think the front desk CMs would have access to package payments. This is just my opinion, but maybe someone else can give more insight.

Can you pay for your trip with your cc and then use the money you were going to use to buy the gc's to pay the cc bill? Or were you getting the gc's from Target and using a Target cc to save 5%?

The OP most likely want's to pay with Disney gift cards purchased at Target because when you use the Target Red Card you get 5% off your purchase. Disney gift cards are included in this discount. By doing this she would save a little more off her trip.

I used both my Red Card and Pharmacy Rewards and got nearly 10% off of Disney gift cards. I saved $248 on $2500 in Disney gift cards.

Wow, I didn't realize this! I have the red card and almost have my pharmacy fills completed to get an extra 5%! Great tip!

Would you be able to call and pay via check on the phone? I've done that in other places, not sure if it is an option for you in this case.

I did ask about this last year when I was ready to pay off my vacation pkg. & was told no as well. What they said I could do was use gift cards to pay off any room charges that I incurred while on vacation but once my package was paid off, I wouldn't be able to get credit back to my cc in order to then re-pay it off with gift cards at the resort.

Sorry but I have no experience with what you want to do, so I have no answer.

But 45 minutes to Target???!!! I would die :rotfl:

Try calling CRO and see if they will extend your payment deadline. I know I have read about others doing this. I would be really concerned about trying to refund your credit card after putting the gift cards on your account at check in without there being some really strong proof that it can be done.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

They only sell $50 gift cards and it was a little time consuming paying $50 at a time on the website but far worth the discount. I got in bed, turned on the tv and loaded up my netbook. And before I knew it the trip was paid off and my fingers didn't hurt that bad. :cool1:

This is different from what the OP is asking. You are referring to room charging, but the OP is asking about a resort reservation. She wants to pay the balance of her resort package with a cc and then have her cc credited the amount at check in and then pay it with gc's.

I agree here. If you're pressed for time, I would call to ask about extending your final payment date. My friend has extended her final payment date twice already.

Wow!!! Thanks for all othe quick replies!!!
I went over to another board for a few and came back to all of this!!!

As some noted in their responses, I want to use the gift cards in order to get the 5% discount. Every little bit of savings helps!!
We will basically go to MNNSHP free because of the money saved at Target!!

So, I guess I will be making that trip to Target today!!
I actually am already past my due date for paying off the reservation.
I just got back from a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, and our due date fell during our trip. However, with all of the trip preparations, I forgot to get it all paid up before leaving.
DD called WDW and explained what happened, and they noted our reservation.
But I promised to have it paid today.

Well, thanks for all the help!!!
Guess I'll get ready to go to Target now!!! :rolleyes2

Where did you find a place to make payment online?
I searched the site ten times trying to figure it out, but never saw a place to do it!
I know I was able to do so on the old site, but the new one isn't as user friendly!!!

Go to the main page. Click on My Disney Experience in the upper right hand corner. Then click My Reservations. Link your resort reservations if they are not already linked. Then next to Remaining Balance you should see Make a payment. Click on that.

Hope this helps

I, too, wasn't able to pay off my trip using the new online site. Instead I had to call in all 80 ($50) gift cards (but I did split it up into two calls :) )

I did try that and it didn't work for me. I also had followed someone's instructions where you could still access the old site and then make my payments there and that didn't work at all. It ended up turning out fine, the CM I got on the phone was extremely pleasant and said I hadn't beat her record for taking the most gift cards.

When you pay online you have to do one $50 transaction at a time. It takes several clicks but like I said watching TV while I did it made the time pass better

A FYI when paying online with the gc you do not have to put in the pin number of the gc. So when scratching off the back area you only need reveal the first 4 numbers under the scratch off thingy :)

Mine is not showing a remaining balance. There is no payment info at all.
I wonderif it is because I am on my iPad.
Maybe I'll pull up the computer quick and see if it shows up there.

Well, that didn't work either.
There is nothing showing concerning any payments or even the amount of the original reservation cost; no pricing whatsoever.
