Need help - questions about Virginia Beach

I just found out that my sister is going to be in Viginia Beach in early July for a week. We'd like to go down and meet her, but no nothing about the area. She is staying at the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Atlantic Avenue (1901). It seems like everything on Atlantic Ave is very expensive. Are there other streets that are nice, but maybe a few blocks from the beach that we could consider? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Any hotel half way decent on Atlantic Ave will be expensive in July. Atlantic is the street closest to the beach, Pacific is a street over, but the hotels on Pacific and the street side of Atlantic are iffy. You can stay more inland, like for an example you can stay near town center and it is a 10 minute drive to the oceanfront for alot less. I'm sure there are some even closer than this, but this is a straight shot on the interstate and the interstate ends at the beach. I highly suggest you check out tripadvisor. I don't stay at any of the hotels here (obviously). My inlaws always stay at The Barclay Tower on Atlantic at Christmas and that one is spacious and clean.

When we went we stayed inland a little bit and got a room for less then 50 a night in august ( we did the priceline deal though, so we didnt know where we were staying till after we booked). It was like a 7 min drive to the beach.

Virginia Beach is a lot of fun. The boardwalk there is awesome. Any hotels on Atlantic Ave will be pricy. TRUT me you get what you pay for on that strees. find a hotel for around $100 a night and it's going to be a dump. There are some terrible hotels still left. Stick with a national brand if possible.

If money is tight consider staying anywhere else in Va Beach you can use Paypal or hunt around for a great rate. traffic isn't too bad but you might have to pay to park.

Restuarant.com has a lot of restaurants in the area. I use them all the time.
