Need help putting an audiobook on itunes

I am trying to put audiobooks on my ipod and I cannot figure for the life of me how to load them on itunes. I have a tab that says audiobooks, but cannot load the book to there. It loads as a music CD, which is fine, but then all the chapters and CDs get all mixed up.

Does anyone know how to load the CDs on properly? Itunes help is of no use, it is only for audiobooks purchased off of the itunes store.

I had the same problem.

What I finally did was to create a new 'playlist' for the audiobook. You must hook up your ipod, then left-click on your ipod (in itunes), and a list will pop up, including 'new playlist'. Click on that, and you will see a blank playlist appear below you ipod; name the playlist. Now, simply drag your audiobook into the playlist.

The itunes audiobook appears to only be for those audiobooks you buy on itunes itself. Like you, I have audiobooks on cd, which I transfer to itunes, then my ipod.

Actually, I hope I understood your question correctly.

Are you able to transfer your audiobooks onto itunes itself?

When you place your cd into your computer does itunes then automatically ask if you wish to transfer to itunes?

When itunes does the transfer, it places it into your itunes 'music' section, never your audiobook section.
