I'm planning to go to Disney World sometime in july 2009, it will be just me and my husband. We thought of getting the Deluxe dining plan but since he's in Iraq and still don't know his exact return date, I'm afraid we won't be able to make reservations 90 days in advance.

In that case, If we don't get the places we want to eat at we don't want to spend a lot of money on the deluxe plan. What should I do? Do I have to book a dining plan before making ADR'S?

Thanks for your help.

If you want the DDP, you will want to have ADRs for the TS meals, but I think alot of the less popular places will still be available! You can find a link to a chart with all of the restaurants and what category they are. Then you can check out the menus. Alot of the resorts have good TS restaurants, so you should be able to get in. I think with the new 90 day plan, it may be easier to get in as not as many people will make ressies they aren't going to use.

If you can't get in to the TS meals you want, you still might be able to have the concierge look them up for you at the resort. Alot of times they can find cancellations for you.

As a last suggestion, they now have the "quick service" plan, which gives you two CS meals and 2 snacks a day. There are alot of good, healthy CS meals with lots to eat, and ther price is alot less than the TS plan. The first time DH and I went down by ourselves, I had purchased vouchers online (no longer available) for CS meals. We really enjoyed them, got the "whole meal deal" on them and had some really good meals. We paid OOP for a couple - did the Hollywood BD with the Fantasmic package. I think we saved lots on our food budget!

Have a great time and thank your hubby for his service!

You're welcome. I just realized I forgot to tell you the link is up above here on the DIS where you see "Dining.":thumbsup2

Also once you know your dates, you can make your ADRs and if you get what you want then add the dining plan. If you'd like to do a lot of Signature Restaraunts for dinner, then the DxDP may be the way to go. I think the Signature restaraunts tend to have availability later than most of the popular 1TS credit restaraunts. Just this past week I was able to switch a ressie to Yachtmans Steakhouse for our trip 3/19/-3/26. :goodvibes

You do not need to be booked on a DDP in order to make ADRs. If you feel more comfortable, you could make your ADRs first then decide which, if any, dining plan you want.

I don't have anything to add, but thank your husband for his service and sacrifice.

Been there, done that, with our son.:thumbsup2
