Need help planning Sept. 2002?

Well my husband and I are becoming parents this year, and yet we want to plan a trip for sometime between July and September 2002. When would be the best time to start planning? I know the earlier the better, however we don't and won't know the exact time we can go until later. For those of you who went in September, how was the weather and crowds? We went for the entire last week of July in 2002, and early Aug, and we survived even though it was hot, and lots of people.

Also if someone can advise me on what kind of passes we should buy. Last time we just bought a package because we didn't have a lot of time to prepare a trip. We will be staying about 8 days or so, and will want to go to the water parks, and Disney Quest.

I would recommend this. Figure out the resort you want to stay at, and when, then book it. You only put down $200, which it refundable up to about 45 days before you go (I think it's refundable even after that, but there are a couple of restrictions). Then fill in the blanks little by little (don't forget to keep track of the reservation schedule, also).
