DH & I are both teachers and we had a full week off prior to Christmas this year and will have the same next year. The entire week before Christmas, I just kept thinking "We should've gone to WDW this week". Two years ago we went and loved it around the holidays - so now I'm convinced we should do it next year and not just wish we had! The trouble is we are in a perpetual state of borrowing and we'd need to use as few of points as possible. I'm thinking about trying to get an OKW 1 BR - to save points. So far, we've stayed at VWL (our home), BWV, HH & VB and we have absolutely loved them all. We're staying at BCV this June and are excited about that stay. I know the chances are we'll love OKW, just as we've loved all the other DVC resorts - but for some reason I'm worried it won't be as great as the others. I guess I'm looking for reassurance from OKW lovers that we won't regret staying there.

OKW is a great place to stay. Want to save points, get a studio. OKW's are the biggest. The only drawback, and really not much of one if you don't mind the transportation, is that anywhere you want to go, you need to take the buses (except DTD via boat). (not a concern for us; others may have issues though)

Disney at Christmas? If you can do it, do it; anyway, anyhow. JMHO

I have to agree I love it during Holiday time also. If it is just the 2 of you and you want to save points I'd recommend the studio also. Definitely not the same but for a trip I'd do anything to make it work. If you're anything like me you are never in the room. Too many things to see and do!!!

All our points are at OKW and we love it there, but if you plan on getting a studio, go somewhere else. OKW studios feel too much like a regular hotel room. I prefer the other resorts' studios as they feel like a 'studio' and not like a hotel room.

However, OKW has the best 1-B/R units of all the resorts. It's the only one with full size kitchen (For example the refrigerator has an ice maker instead of ice trays like the other resorts), the washer/dryer is full size and not apartment size, and the living room and balcony areas are huge compared to the other resorts.

Go for the 1-B/R at OKW. You won't regret it.

Now look what you've done. You have me imagining and pining to sit on an OKW one bedroom balcony. That's not nice.

There is simply nothing like it.....

If it were us, we would spend a week at VWL in a studio!

If you really want a 1 bedroom, then we would go with either a standard view BWV, or one at OKW. Since you don't own at either, think about it until the 7 month mark, and see what's available!

We need a 1 BR - studios don't work for us - we've got kids and need the extra space. The large 1 BRs at OKW might spoil us and we may never be happy anywhere else! Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this.

We just got back on the 20th from OKW 2br with 6 people. It was fantastic. So much room!! We absolutely loved the huge balcony, sit out there and watch the golfers go by. And another perk, OKW is a little cheaper on points!

If you've "absolutely loved them all" with all the places you've stayed, I think it's safe to say you'll love OKW as well. Clearly, you don't have a specific theming or location that defines your enjoyment, and I think you'll enjoy OKW quite a bit.

We've stayed at OKW a couple of times and enjoyed it very much. I'm sure you will as well. :)

VWL and OKW have a lot in common - both are very, very comfortable. Laid back and very friendly atmosphere.

the 1-bedroom is definitely bigger. but since I try to budget I stay a bunch in the studios.

remember that there are 2 queen beds in the studio at OKW - no just one. So it can work for families.

the balcony on the studio is about the same size as the only balconies - might be a little bigger - but I think that depends upon the building.

the 1 bedroom and up have a much larger balcony.

the bus system at OKW is either great for most of the time or horrible. remember that it is not uncommon for wheelchairs to be here. those take more time to load and unload. (Pop is the only resort I have seem with more)

plus for some unknown reason the bus drivers at OKW get lost - to me they get lost alot. Yes they are new....
