I'm trying to decide on when is best to go to WDW for MNSSHP. I'm a DL vet from CA so, I'm looking for what weather is better out of the 3 times I suggested and when the crowds would be lower. Ive only been in December and May and so far I think May was the best weather and crowds. I always go mid month around the 15th due to my work schedule. I'm also going to try to get free dining again as well so, please factor this in as well. TIA for any and all advice!

The fall free dining dates for 2018 were as follows
Aug 2-Sept 29
Nov. 24- 27
Dec. 7-23

October rarely has free dining anymore for the general public
So I think that Aug/Sept. if you are looking for free dining but the weather will be hot and humid and Sept is hurricane season so chances of rain are higher.

So far this year the first 2 MNSSHP have been reported as being very crowded just letting you know what is being said so far this year.

Hope this helps!
Happy Planning!

I did read about the crowded first party. Is it usually like that or was it just this year? Ok so it sounds like August might be the best bet. Is it much more humid & hot than it is in May or December? And thanks for your response, I appreciate it!

Yes the weather is much more humid and hot in august than in May and December usually isn't hot or humid.

Also be advised that they have a BB offer going right for free dining next summer through Sept. 7 so this may have some impact on availability of the GP free dining when it is released. Also don't know where you are planning on staying on site but some resorts are blocked out for free dining.

Also some schools may be back in session on your August dates but many will not of started yet. But all schools would be back in session by your Sept. dates. So for crowds I would vote for Sept. for weather I would vote for Oct. for FD I would vote for Aug. or Sept.

I've always wanted to do a Sept. Trip for my birthday but haven't yet because I hate being drenched by rain/sweat lol. Maybe one year I will just go for it and see what happens.

The first party is usually always crowded MNSSHP/MVMCP. But so far there are reports saying the second one was overly crowded also but that was on a Friday night so probably a lot of locals also. I'm waiting to see how the Sept. crowds are as I think they will be some of the least crowded this year.

We are planning a big family trip for Oct. 2019 and doing MNSSHP but I am already planning on it being really crowded and busy. Not my ideal time to go but that's the time everyone's work schedules could accommodate vacation time. I really wanted to go early Dec. and do MVMCP but 2 of my adult children are blocked from taking any time off during that month. So Halloween it is lol. And it is Food and Wine so that increases crowds in Oct.

What is the weather like in Oct? Maybe free dining shouldn't be a priority. I've gotten FD in early December twice but when I went in May there was just a minor discount. We stayed at POP for FD and AOA when there was no FD. My birthday is also in September which would be ideal but like you said rain and sweat kind of ruin the fun of it all. For me I thought December weather was pretty hot/humid and May weather was much better but what do I know about weather I live in CA so, we have no clue about hot, humid, hurricanes etc. We're wimpy Californians...lol

I haven't been in Oct yet but our trip next year is the last full week in Oct. so I assume it will be less humid (at least I hope so) I have been twice in Nov. once the first week and once the last week after Thanksgiving into the beginning of Dec. , and once in April the week of Easter (YIKES) By far the week in April was the hottest/most humid I cannot even fathom what summer would be like because for me that week was HOT. I live in West Virginia and it does get hot and humid here in the summer but the humidity in the southern states is way worse. But I also have health issues and cannot handle hot humid weather so take that into account.

I think you need to decide whether or not FD is important to you or not. That would depend on how many are in your party and if that would be the most cost effective for your situation. At the values and moderate resorts you get free QS dining, you can upgrade to the regular dining plan by just paying the difference.

It's great your birthday is also in September small world lol. I'd say go for a birthday trip and have the best of both worlds, lower crowds and better possibility of free dining, that is if you can handle the heat. If not then I would suggest Oct. even though it will still be hot it may not be as humid.

I love Pop Century that is where I always stay and once the skyliner(gondolas) are opened it will make it even better!

I usually do upgrade to the regular dining as I like all of the themed and character TS restaurants. We will only have 4 of us on this trip but I'm also saving for my wedding in 2020 so, the more savings the better. Well looks like I have some decisions to make. Thanks for your input!
