I need some assistance in possibly planning a trip in December (18th thru 22). Where is the best place/site to get the packages from? It would be for a couple only. A coworker of mine is saying disneytravel.com and that when you build the package at the site to call the number and it will be cheaper. Are there discounts out there? When I build a package at disney travel im gettin quotes for around 2400? does this seem right? This is for value hotel 4 nights,flight,3 day hopper pass. Thanks in advance.:thumbsup2

The first year we planned a trip we booked through AAA. We saved much more than the cost of the membership on our package and it was cheaper than the quotes through Disney, plus you usually get several "perks" such as preferred parking.

That is the most expensive and most crowded week at WDW all year. That number soudns maybe a tad high for avalue resort, but not out of the ballpark high.

I find the best option is to price out exactly what I want, then call to book. It won't result in lower prices, but does give you slightly better booking terms. If you book online, you have afew restrictions. If you don't check prices online, and know exactly waht it will cost, somtiems over-the-phone agents will try to tack on trip insurance (I alwasy skip it) without saying any thign.

Flat out, not all agents are equal. if you get a really clueless one, sometimes it's almost best topolitely excuse yourself and call back. no matter what excuses they give, you should be able to get at lest teh sme prices over the phone. When you use WDW.com to look at prices - be certain to look at theri 'sepcial deals' link. I dont think there are and deals that week. (Later in January, yes.) It never hurts to look though.

If you are going to book the dining plan, then you have to book the whole package through wdw. If you are booking a room only, you can save afew doolar buying your park tickets thought a place like undercovertourist (be careful though, theyre are LOTS of scam places that also selltickets) Undercovertourist is one of the better places. you'll want to get tickets very soon if you go that way though, they need sometime to get to you. Booking all through DIsney is easiest. Ut doesn't save more than about $20 per ticket tops - usually more like $7 per ticket. Disney reps can also walk you through allthe options.

Generally, there ARE discounts to be had for WDW, but not for that week , especially this late in the game. You may want to price out how much less a trip will cost just a few weeks later in January. The parent site of this board has some great info on pricing as well.

Thanks for your help and suggestions, it looks I might be going to Disney.:cool1: I am a AAA member and just got off the phone and built a package. It is an offsite hotel Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista about .5 miles from parks. My total for 3 day hopper and 4 nights was $793. The flight came to $518 round trip, $133 for insurance, and $66 for transportation from airport to hotel and back. Grand total around $1510 for 2, which is in my price range. Thanks again. JOE
