Need help planning a Maine beach vacation

We went to York Beach, Maine in '05 & loved it! We're planning to return in '08 to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. I found a nice property in York Beach, but was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks!

Have you considered Ogunquit? Nice big beach there and it's not that much further.

We lived in York Beach for a little while, in between Long Sands and Short Sands on Church Street Extension.

Went and stayed at Ogunquit Beach for the 1st time this summer. Absolutely LOVED that Beach and town ! Beautiful long, sandy beach and great little town with coffee shops and ice-cream etc. Also the Trolley runs thru town and down to scenic Perkins Cove where the Candy Shop & more shops are . If you don't stay there ...at least drive up for the day (15min drive north). Liked it much better than York Beach Maine....you should look into it !

The Ocean Walk Hotel on Old Orchard Beach is very nice. They have a very good website that shows you what the rooms look like. Old Orchard Beach is beautiful! You can walk for miles on the beach. I like York Beach as well and have vacationed there many times but when it is high tide there is no beach to walk/sit on. Have fun wherever you chose..... I just love Maine even though I live on Cape Cod.

If you are looking for a quiet, family friendly beach then I highly recommend Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunk. There is no "strip" of shops or anything but it is a lovely, clean beach.

We have stayed here several times and really love it! One big plus is that they have an on-site restaurant that serves breakfast - which is real nice to not have to go outside to eat.

we have stayed at the anchorage in ononquit (sp?). Very nice. There is a trail by the water's edge that you walk to another town.
