My fiance and I (engaged 2 weeks ago) met again (after dating for middle school and some of high school until I had to move far away from him because of my father's job) re-met each other on High School Musical: The Ice Tour on the first day of rehearsals. We have been talking about it and have decided that we want to have High School Musical be a big part of our wedding. I guess you could say we want it to be the theme. However, I'm clueless as to how to go about this.

Here's where you come in. What are some ideas and suggestions that you have regarding any aspect of our wedding? We want to keep the spirit of the movies and the Ice Tour alive. However, we don't want our wedding to seem too childish. So I guess we kind of want the feel of High School Musical, but somewhat sophisticated. Does this make sense? Adam and I are still very much children at heart.

Really the only idea that I have so far is for Adam's grooms cake, and that was to have it look exactly like the cake that we had at the Opening Night Party for the Tour that we're on. He seems to like the idea. What do you think?

<-------- This is the cake that we had at the Opening Night party for our tour.

I can also get a picture of the Opening Night Party Cake from the International Tour (which looks completely different) to compare it to to see if there is one that you think might work better than the other. The West Coast Tour party cake looks exactly the same as ours did.

All help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! :lovestruc

I don't think it seems childish at all but I can definitely see where you would be concerned that others would see it that way. Your wedding is your day, have it any way you want, after all it seems like HSM has played a very big role in your life and relationship. The cake is perfect!!

I am definitely going to have to think on the ideas of incorporating it into your wedding. I would probably go traditional with the actual ceremony, maybe use red, white wildcat colors for the flowers and use the reception to tie the rest of the theme in. I will think some more.

As far as first dance goes, I thought that "Start of Something New" would make a suitable one. "You Are the Music in Me" is a great song too, but I fear that that one might be a little bit too upbeat or fast for a first dance song.

Or do you think we should choose a more traditional song such as "At Last", "From this Moment On," or "Love Me Tender"?

Right now we're kind of thinking that our wedding will have a guest list of about 250 - 300 people

If we can get permission from FELD, the tour manager and Costume Head of the show (and as long as we filmed it during our downtime), I think it would give our wedding a unique detail if we took the Troy and Gabriella costumes for "Everyday) from the Ice Tour and performed that number as Troy and Gabriella while we have the Video guys film it. Adam would skate as Troy (even though he is the understudy for Ryan), and I would skate as Gabriella (which is my regular understudy role). This wouldn't be our first dance, but if we did decide to do that and it works out, we would most likely show it during the Reception some time.

Sorry my wedding thoughts are all over the place. I just don't know where to start!

I love HSM..My fiance's ringer is you are the music in me lol.

I love the grooms cake..The only thing I can think if right now would be ro maybe have some type of karaoke set up with HSM songs,IDK.....ooooh I just thought of something, maybe you can incorporate you and your fiance's HS pictures somehow ummm instead of table numbers maybe do table names of like songs from the movie, important names and places.

I am not sure if I am any help lol.umm maybe you can do your colors like the wildcats, red white and Gold(I think) Maybe more subtle than the bold colors or do the bold colors if you like.

See if you can get your guests to dig up thier old Senior class pictures, portraits or whatever and set them up maybe at your geustbook table..Have your guestbook look like a yearbook.

For favors make cd's with song's from HSM along with your other favorite songs...ooh you could do a Prom king and Queen have people vote for the people in your bridal party.

I hope this helped lol, they just came off the top of my head.

Are you getting married in Disney???

No we aren't. I've got to start planning this wedding (witrh help from my mother of course) while I'm on tour, and so I figured here would be a good place to discuss my wedding and get some advice.

OMG I missed that you said you are on tour..CONGRATS!! That is so cool..
I hope I helped you a little bit.

Thank You so much.

He proposed to me at the end a show one night in front of the entire arena audience. It was a total surprise and was something that I never expected. Especially in front of so many people!!!

You gotta give it to the man for his creativity and surprise factor.

i think its so cool that u guys do the hsm on ice tour...
who do you guys play?????

In the first act, I play an East High Cheerleader as well as an East High Drama Student. In the first act, Adam is an East High Drama Student, an East High Basketball player, and a West High Basketball player. In the second act, I play a Sharpette, and he is one of the Wildcats. Sometimes, when they need me to, I also do Martha. But that doesn't happen too often.

We also both have 1st Understudy roles. I am the 1st Understudy for Gabriella, and Adam is the 1st Understudy for Ryan. As a matter of fact, for all of the shows for the past two weeks, Adam has been skating as Ryan because our tour's regular skater for that role (who's name also happens to be Adam) is on vacation in France visiting some of his friends on another tour for a different show.

Just in case you wanted to get a look at it, here is a picture of one of the skaters in the International Tour cast with their International opening night cake.

Which one do you guys think looks better? Either one would have the same amount of sentiment to us.

The show already went to Miami. It was there in the beginning of September. Adam and I were not in the cast that went to Miami. We were in Orlando doing the show that same weekend.

Congrats!!

I don't have any ideas at the moment to help you, but I wanted to say that I like cake #1 better! It really represents HSM The Ice Tour. The international cake (all white) just looks like a white sheet cake with one of those icing sheets on top of it. It's beautiful with all of the intricate piping work on it, of course, but I like the first cake best!

I like the idea of having your guestbook resemble a yearbook too! That's a cute idea...

What do you think about taking videos of Adam and I at the different places we go on tour and somehow incorporating that into the wedding? The only problem that I could think of that might come up with showing the videos DURING the wedding would be interrupting the flow of the reception.

Any ideas on what to do?

I've been to receptions where stuff like would play while everyone was arriving and getting settled in at the reception. Maybe that would work best so as not to disrupt the flow of things???

How awesome!!! I love HSM. I actually went to see you guys in Orlando when you were here (pathetic, I'm 31 and I dragged DF to go with me). Anyway, I love it! How exciting.

It's funny cuz my 5 year old niece keeps insisting that we do "Everyday" for our first dance. Not happening, but I compromised by having it as our last dance.

I hope you have a wonderful wedding. Good luck and no, I do not think it's cheezy at all. I think whatever represents you and your fiancé's relationship is what matters. I'm a fellow performer - check out my PJ.. I'm going a bit nuts with the "entertainment" theme. Trust me, go for it!!!! oh, and CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement!

Thank You so much. I am glad to hear that you liked the show. We work hard on it, and it's always nice to hear that people love it. My fiance Adam was the one that did the backflip on the ice near the end of All For One. Did you see that?

I have started looking at dresses onlinr just to get an idea of what styles I might like. What do you think?

Wow, how exciting for you! And what a romantic you've fallen in love with. Congratulations! You will have wonderful romantic moments throughout your lives together!

I think the first cake is a lot of fun because it is colorful and doesn't look like a standard sheetcake with an overlay. Both of those dresses are gorgeous, but I am really partial to the first one. Something about the styling on the second one at the bottom always makes brides look shorter to me. And I love the bodice detailing on the first one. It is so unique and beautiful!

We were at a reception recently where during the cocktail hour and the reception, a slide show/power point with music was projected on a wall, showing pix from the couple's relationship and from their performances (both musicians).

Congratulations on being on tour and being engaged! Can't wait to hear all about your planning!

Congratulations on your engagement! What a wonderful story the two of you have.

I love HSM. I took my nephew, who is a secret HSM fan to the stage show here in Boston back in the fall - it was fabulous. Tickets for the ice show are hard to get but I haven't given up hope yet.

As far as having a HSM theme, I think that is a fabulous idea - not cheezy or childish at all - especially considering your story. You could take it in so many different directions depending on what style you want your wedding to be - whether fun, fun-traditional, or formal-traditional, etc.

You should definitely go with the Wildcat colors. If you want more of the traditional feel, I think Lynn suggested, add some gold into the mix. For invitations, you could go with a fun ticket style invite - like a show ticket. Or you could fancy it up a little and make it like a VIP type show ticket, or go the traditional route and incorporate the Wildcat colors, maybe an emblem, or a verse to one of the songs on the standard wedding type invitation.

Your video presenation would be awesome! I also think it would be perfect during the cocktail hour. It would give something added for your guests to do between the ceremony and reception while they wait for you. And it would give those in attendance who are not so close to you a chance to get to know more about the two of you (and the show if they are out of the HSM loop - LOL).

What else? Oh, for wedding programs - you could make them look like a play bill or tour program from your show. And I think you mentioned a Gabriella type dress somehow involved - what if you wore a similar dress for your going away, last dance outfit?

And absolutely include as much of the music from the show into your wedding as you like. There are some great songs in there that would totally work with a wedding.

This is fun. I'll try to think of some more if you still need suggestions. Let us know a little more about what you are looking to do...like the size of your wedding and whether you are going for more of a traditional feel or fun feel...

In any case, good luck!
