I am trying to plan a cheap trip for Jan or Feb. We have Annual Passes so tickets are covered. Any tips on how to help cut costs and still have a good time would be greatly appreciated!!! Also, we will have to fly and will want to stay on-site.

Thanks so much

Hi, Soccer Princess! I see you're from Louisville. I graduated from Seneca High School! :jester: I still have 2 brothers and their families living down there, so I get back there regularly. In fact, I'm going down for Thanksgiving.

Anyway, this board will be a great source of budget ideas. Is it safe to assume that you're also familiar with mousesavers.com? If not, be sure to go there and explore. You'll find a wealth of money-saving ideas, discount codes, etc.

Regarding flights, have you already checked out the travel websites? My favorites are travelocity, expedia, orbitz, and cheaptickets. Just for fun, I went on travelocity and plugged in some random dates in Jan. and Feb. for flights between SDF and MCO. Right now, the fares seem to be in the $200-220 range. You could consider alternative airports (Cincinnati? Tampa?) to see if you could get a great deal that way.

That's just a small start. I'm sure that others on this board will have lots more help and advice to offer you. Good luck! :D

travelbug-- How did you know I went to Seneca ?? :) Anyways, thanks for your help. I check Mousesavers pretty often as it is.
I just remembered that we will have our free flights (Southwest) by then, so actually I just need room/meal ideas.

Thanks
Go Hawks!

Annual Pass rates just came out for Jan/fEb. Allstars for $49 a nite and $79 for moderates. I say that was pretty cheap.

Herc.

Hi, Soccer Princess. Wow, I had no idea you went to Seneca! I just mentioned that I went there because I figured you'd at least have heard of it. "It's a small world after all..." :D

Hey soccer princess. I'm here in Bowling Green. I actually lived in Louisville for a year. I've seen you post before so you probably know as much as I do. Bring snacks and water with you and into the parks, stay at an all star, keep a cooler in your room with milk, juice boxes, etc. , Eat breakfast and one other meal in your room. We usually splurge on one big meal a day out. I think our first trip we budgeted $75 a day for me, DH and DD and had some left over. Have a great trip. Any day there is better than a day at work!

A tip that I picked up on these boards was to share a double cheeseburger at the counter service restaurants. This works particularly well at Pecos Bills and Cosmic Rays where they have the "fixins" bars. For an additional $.90 we got a second plain bun and divided the hamburger ourselves (this isn't on the menu...you have to ask). Then each person can choose the toppings they want. This not only saved us the additional cost of a second burger, it also led to a more realistic portion size. The all-stars on the AP rate is your best bet, and check out mousesaver.com for car rental discount codes.

Thanks for everyone's help!! I'll guess we'll just have to suck it up and go back to the All-Stars( right after a trip to the Poly..hmm ;) ) We won't need to rent a car ...we just use Disney transportation. Splitting the meals will help a lot! You all have some great ideas.. I'll make sure to copy and paste them onto my itinerary.

travelbug-- What a coincidence!!! It IS a small world. Was Mr. Locke there ??

momx2-- I was in Bowling Green on Saturday and visitied WKU. I loved it and I'm pretty sure that's where I'll be going (for the Communications program). Bowling Green is a lot smaller than what I'm used to though -- only one mall!!! :teeth: Also, is there no Disney Store there? I saw that the one in the mall had closed?

Thanks for everyones help. Great to hear from fellow Kentuckians (past and present)
