Need help planning a budget trip!

Hello my fellow budget board Dissers! I am on here most everyday, but now I need help.

We are hoping to attend the C5 conference (for Star Wars fans) in Orlando at the Convention Center and to add on about three other days to attend WDW. I want to stay at Pop Century and am hoping for free dining. My husband wants to stay off property, So here are my questions:

1.) What resort would you recommend that is family and budget friendly that is off site. I am clueless.

2.) If free dining starts a few days after we check in, do we still get free dining? We plan to check in on August 11th and stay for a week. If free dining begins around August 15th, will we get free dining for the whole visit, or only the three days or not at all?

I will start by saying you have to stay on property to get the free dining. Is there a reason you wan to be off property?

If free dining starts 8/15, it will not apply to nights of your stay before that start date. You will have to make two reservations, one room only for 8/11 - 8/15 and the other with FD from 8/15 - 8/18 (or whatever you dates are).
