Need help or advice.

My DGS's mother has an inexpensive GE point and shoot. I was just trying to help her as GE has really lousy customer service. The camera is a little over a year old and hasn't been used much. It has had 2 SD cards get stuck and a portion of the top broke off. Not the contacts. She can read the pics on her cards in the camera but her computer and the photo machines at the store will not read the cards. She keeps getting a message that there are no images on the card. She tried hooking the camera directly to the computer and is getting the same message.

I know that there is a way to recover pics from the cards I just don't know how as I never had this problem. The issues with GE aside, as I did tell her not to put another card in there to get ruined. Is there a way for her to try and recover the pics. She is really upset as the pics are of my DGS and his siblings among other things and between the 2 cards there are probably 2000 to 3000 pics. We all know what that would feel like. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

She tried hooking the camera directly to the computer and is getting the same message.

OK, so she can see the images on the camera when the card is installed. But, when she hooks camera (with card inside), is the message she is getting that there are no images or does the camera itself not hook up to the computer.

If the Windows wizard isn't finding images when the camera is hooked up but the camera itself is hooking up. Can you select the camera from Windows filing system and double click and then go to the file directory hierarchy and look for the images manually or are you just plugging the camera in and the Wizard is saying there are no images?

If the camers with the card installed is visible from the directory, you should be able to find the pictures.

Did you ever get this taken care of? If you want, I'd be more than happy to maybe meet up somewhere and take a look at it. I've had decent luck in the past with other cards. I'm right off I-95 near the Prospect Park exit. Just throwing it out there.

P.P.S. I used to do data recovery as a hobby (yea I know) while working in I.T.

Thanks for the answers. As far as I know she hasn't been able to resolve the problem. NateNLogansDad. We are right off of 95 in NE Philly. I will talk to her and see if she would like you to try and find the pics. I appreciate the offer.
