I am thinking of a trip to Disneyland next year and would like to stay at one of the three resorts. My problem is which one would be the best value for my money. It would just be me & my wife as we have no kids. I know all three are within walking distance to the parks & Downtown Disney. I have been to WDW a few times but this will be my first visit to DL. I know the resorts at WDW are more spread out than the three in DL. I also know that the resorts in WDW have different themes and are in different categories such as value, moderate, & deluxe. I have done some reading on the DL resorts but wanted to see what feedback I would get here.

Best value for money over all would be to not stay on site. As a fellow WDW vet I know staying on site at WDW is quite important but at DL many of the off site hotels are actually closer to the parks than some of the DL ones.

If you really had your heart set on staying at a DL hotel then Paradise Pier is the cheapest so possibly best value for money. In saying that it is more expensive than most of the off site hotels that are further away.

If Disney theaming is important to you then the Disneyland hotel would be your best bet as the rooms are truely Disney theamed.

As it is an adults only trip you might like to splurge and stay at the Grand Californian hotel (similar in theaming to the WL). It is the most expensive of the on site hotels but it has it's own enterence to the Californian Adventure park and is minutes away from the DL park.

Personally as a couple who also have no children we initially opted to stay off site at the Candy Cane Inn as it has great reviews, is in walking distance and seemed great value for money. We have ended up going for the GCH concierge level only due to the fact that our friends who have DVC points are paying for us to stay there with their points as an anniversary gift to us.

With no kids, splurging= do Grand California, watching money=do Paradise Pier but spring for the view room. (We always stay at the DLH with our kids for the pool and the bigger rooms but would not without kids!)

I agree with offsite and we have stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn right at the cross walk and it was fine. Also have stayed at HoJos and it is fine too but a bit further to walk. We also did Candy Cane and that was okay too but as far as Hojos to walk and they have their own shuttle.

BWPPI is closer to walk than PP! Check around and get the best rates for all and then make your decision. I would stay cheap since you will most likely be at the parks most of the time and then splurge on something like the fantasmic balcony or dinner at Napa rose. A room is really just a room as long as it is clean and the bed is decent and at DL the whole benefit is walking to the parks and everything is much much closer than you will imagine.
