we are going the last week in september on the dining plan. there are 10 in our party, 6 adults and 4 children (6-1). i have a reservation for the Ohana on the morning of MNSSHP, and a lunch res for tony's the same day. it is too much eating to do both, but i CANNOT decide which to choose.

do i:
a) choose ohana, spend the morning at mk, rest in the afternoon and head to MNSSHP for the evening?

or

b) hit the park early, lunch at tonys, rest in the afternoon, and back to the MNSSHP in the evening?

help!

We really like ohana's for breakfast. The food was great and the juice was awesome. The kids liked the characters and the parade around the restaurant. We always have a big breakfast go to the parks then back to hotel for rest and return in the evening. I would go with plan A.

Hi
Definitely O'hana. We thought the food at Tony's was pretty bad. The only thing good that we had there was the taramisu for dessert.

I would recommend sticking with A.. I had lunch at Tony's a couple years ago and was less than impressed with the food. The location was great, but the the food was nothing special...

For the food - recommend Ohana breakfast over Tony's lunch.

BUT.....

For the park strategy, with a big group and on an MNSSHP night, I'd recommend against a TS breakfast. It seems to me that you would want to make rope drop in the morning, then have a later lunch and an extended break before the party. Even with the earliest possible breakfast seating, a large group simply takes more time to eat, to chat, and to move on to the park. Rope drop isn't going to happen.

If the quality/menu choices at Tony's are the barrier for lunch, is a TS lunch available at your resort? Or at a monorail resort after you leave the MK and before you go back to your resort? I'm thinking about GF Cafe or Kona.

This is an easy one...definitely Ohanas over Tony's. Ohanas food is AWESOME!!!! Love their food...esp the bread & juice! SO GOOD! The characters are fantastic too. We saw mickey twice! And the atmosphere cant be beat. Tony's was one of the worst meals i've ever had in disney EVER!! I wouldnt go back, even if I got a great view of the parade. So not worth it.

I completely agree with this. It depends on your priority, food or park strategy?

Both have really good food but i have to say im more partial to Tonys...My brother has a severe tree nut allergy and so this is the only italian restaurant we can eat at in Disney and the food turned out to be really good!

Ohana, hands down. That was one of my children's favorite meals. My DS3 still runs around the house yelling, "helloha"....too funny. Was supposed to be Aloha.

After breakfast I would just go back to the resort and have a pool day and really relax. We always have pool days before the parties and it seems to work out well. We are nice and rested for the parties. You can get in as early as 4pm with the party ticket.

I second this! :thumbsup2 On an MNSSHP day, we always have a TS breakfast and then go back to the resort to rest and relax, or we rest and relax first then have a late TS lunch at WCC and then enter MK at 4:00.

I come out on the other side. Enjoy Ohana, (I would NEVER plan a day around Tony's. Just not good). There is no reason to get to RD on a MNSSHP day. You are going to have the park practically to yourself from 7:00-midnight (or later) and you can get in at 4:00. It will be a long enough day as it is with no concerns whatsoever about missing any attractions due to crowds. Especially if you go on a day well before Halloween, which you are doing.

This.:thumbsup2 Or...enjoy breakfast and take the monorail over to Epcot around 10:30. Visit World Showcase when it opens at 11:00 and head out by 3:00 back to the MK to change into costume and enter with your party ticket at 4:00. A relatively relaxing morning/afternoon keeping you well rested for the party.

For adults - sure. But OP is traveling with 4 children ages 6 to 1. CS breakfast at the resort or in the room. RD at MK for a few good hours in the morning. A sit-down lunch when they are starting to run out of steam, then back to the resort while the adults swim/hang out and the kids sleep.

Get up in time to get dressed, get dinner, and get back to the park for the party. They may not get many rides done in the evening because the little ones will want to do the parade and the characters. The party may go until midnight, but the kids may not make it anywhere near that long.

My family LOVES the Ohana breakfast, I would highly recommend keeping that one. I have never been to Tony's but I would agree with other posters that having an "easy day" on party nights will make the party much more enjoyable. My family usually has a swim day or sometimes even a water park morning before the party. We head toward the MK around 4 pm and are well rested so we can really enjoy it. Have fun at the halloween party - it's so much fun!
