Need help - never had extra points before

Hi all -
We have owned DVC since 2009 and never had extra points. Thanks to COVID we had to cancel 2 trips in 2020 and have a ton of extra points.

We have a February UY for both contracts. One contract we are set with - 2021 FW trip using all 2020/2021 points for it. For the other contract, I banked 138 points from UY2020 into UY2021. Those will expire 1/31/2022 correct? Has MS given any leniency with extending those further into 2022? Or is it a lose them or use them situation? We do not want to turn them into RCI points (we had to do that with banked 2019 BCV points and do not want to repeat that).

Right now I am looking at using those UY2020 138 points in January with UY2021 34 points. Then book the rest of UY2021 into UY2022 and do a FG 2022 trip.

We would rather not travel in January to WDW if we can help it but I don't see another way to use those 138 points AND stay at one of our home resorts.

thanks in advance!!

Maybe I haven’t had enough coffee - but what is an FW trip & and what is an FG trip?
Yes, the 2020 points you banked into 2021 will expire 1/31/22. Assuming you live in the U.S. I’ve not read of DVC currently extending already banked points.

The OP is referring to Food and Wine Festival and Flower and Garden Festival.

No, there are no further extension on points. It will be use it or lose it before Feb 1, 2022.

You also could rent them out.

You're in a better situation than I am. I have 200 pts expiring Aug 1st. I'm going to try to rent them out but I'm still waiting on my Gold Status to post them.

You'll might want to book a reservation ASAP before the points expire and rent a confirmed reservation

You can push them to RCI, go somewhere else. That is about the only other option.

Thanks everyone!!!

Sorry for abbreviations - we usually only go during festivals.

Thanks - I was holding out some hope for an extension. That said, we are aiming for a 1 br at Grand Cali when 7 month opens (have had good luck in past for January at DL) or barring that a 1 br at Floridian.

We are going to book since we can't extend the points. It's a bonus trip: will get good use out of our AP (10/21, 1/22, and 5/22).

Not doing RCI - I don't even see us using the RCI points we converted during COVID anywhere. bonus trip it is!

We had a similar problem. Looked at our options and decided to rent them out. When we purchased, never had any thought of renting points, but we lost 2 trips last year.
It worked well for us, YMMV.
we got enough to more than cover the annual dues, but you'll never cover the cost of purchase renting.

Concierge Collection has some very nice places.
Rule of Four would not allow that option because OP's points expire at the end of July. To book CC, OP would have had to make the reservation before the end of March (4 months prior to the end of her use year).

Points also need to be "qualified" to book Concierge Collection options. But since OP either has direct or resale points purchased prior to 3/21/2011, she does have qualified points.
