Need help making autograph/scrap book

Hi, I am doing this as well. I actually got the idea from another DISer. I went to Michael's and got a book very similar to this. It was a little smaller and had more pages. I am using clip art of characters for each page and then the opposite side will be for them to sign. Put a title on the front with clip art as well. You can use any standard writing item....just remember to use a "fat" one so the characters can hold on to it better.

Good Luck, HTH

Hi! I'm also doing this, and same as corky, I got my books at Michaels. I think the Michaels books have more pages but they were, I think, $7.50 each.
I got 1 for my DS (7) to decorate and 1 for myself. She decorated right side of book for signatures and left side will be for pictures. I did the same, but also added colored (to match each character) acid-free paper rectangles (approx. 3X5) for the characters to sign. That way I can crop the rectangles out and put them (and pictures) into a 12X12 scrapbook which I plan on making.
If you don't want clipart, pictures, signatures to fade with time use only acid-free supplies. Michaels carries everything from paper to adhesives to stickers.

Also, check out the DIS craft & cooking board. There is an abundance of scrapbook knowlednge and ideas over there.

I too got a book from Micheal's. It was an acid-free journal and I used my coupon and I got it for $2.50. It was in the "make your own cards" section, not the scrapbook section. It was 4X6 and I turned it on it's side and decorated the front (Autograph Book)with stickers that I picked up at my local scrapbook store.

I did the same thing but I used pictures from a page-a-day disney desk calendar. They were just the right size to paste in a small scrapbook. I also had an eyezone camera and someone on line would take a picture of me and my hubby with the camera. I would then stick the little one-inch polaroid picture next to the signature.

I think the homemade autograph books make a big difference. The characters loved looking through the book before they signed it - Daisy flipped through the whole thing until she found the picture of Donald.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I don't have a color printer so I guess the cliparts are out. I'll try Michaels and AC Moore to see what I can find for an album. Any idea how many pages I should plan on?

Thanks for letting me know about the craft board too, hadn't noticed it:D

Which characters do you put in your book before you go?

I'm making an autograph book for my son also (more for my benefit at the moment though I think!!) I bought a spiral bound art book which is 6" square. I've decorated the front and back covers, and inside the covers with some Disney stickers from Stickopatamus, and am going to do a page for each character - the left hand side with their picture, and the right hand for the autograph book. Stickopatamus (sp?!) sell some really nice Disney stickers - Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Disney Princesses, Little Mermaid, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, Buzz Lightyear and Cinderella - at least that is all the my artshop sell here in the UK. They also have letters you can use in a Mickey font a Pooh one and also Princesses. For the rest of the characters I have got a load of Disney print studios and am going to print others, and for the rest, just get some clipart from the net. I've got a fairly decent printer, so I hope they will come out ok.
I've also sectioned the book up - Classic characters - Mickey etc, then all the Pooh characters, then the Princesses, and then according to movie.
I don't think we'll get all the signatures, but it'll be nice to take back again and again (and we plan on going again already! We haven't even been once yet!!!)
I'll post some pictures of mine so far soon :):Pinkbounc

I bought a memory book (in the scrapbook section) at Michaels. I had scrapbook papers that punch out of Disney Characters and the ones that I didn't have I used clip art of various characters. There is a great site at www.disney2go.com for lots of characters. I got the smaller book so it will fit in our fanny packs and the kids decorated them with their own cover work:) They were very proud of their books they made:)

My kids made their own autograph books at Kinkos and had so much fun doing it. They each picked out 12 colored sheets of paper and 1 more to decorate as their covers. We combined the paper, they designed their covers and had the paper cut in half. Then we had the kinko's people laminate their covers and an end page and put a plastic spiral thru each book. It was cheap, colorful and fun for them to do. We did the same thing 3 years ago and they held up great. Last time, each child took along one of those instamatic sticker cameras and we have pictures with them and the characters which they put right in their autograph books. Will do the same thing when we go in October.

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas! Would love to see your pictures! Can't wait to get to the craft store!:D

I also made autograph books for my four nieces and nephews (2 each) and used my computer to do it all, except for the covers. The books are actually Disney photo albums, with 4x6 inch "loose leaf" pages. purchased at Walmart for about $3 each, with a different character on each. I took out the photo pages and replaced them with pages I made, using cardstock paper. I used clipart from the web, and Print Shop's postcard template. I imported the clip art onto the first postcard, then pasted it on to the three others (remember, I was making four albums)....printed the page with just the clipart on it, cut them apart and punched holes for them to fit into the album. DNiece #2 (age 6), used it last November on our trip, and the other three will get theirs the night before we leave this November. The characters do like to see themselves on the pages, just remember to have the book open to their page before you get up to them! Have a great trip! MaryAunt:)

I got a small scrapbook with no pages and i cut up colored cardstock into the width of the pages but a little longer. had them bound at staples and made one for each day after there signed all i have to do is decorate if i want adn cut the binding off and insurt in album then put the picture on the page across from the autograph. its a little more work but this will then be a full album for my daughter it will hold close to 100 pages as long as there thin then she can add her napkins and other memorbila and the pictures that you buy at the park and poscards as well im also getting the leather cover engraved with the trip dates as well.

I just did the same thing at Office Max today. I bought acid-free card stock inall various colors and had them cut it to the size I wanted (4x6, perfect size for fanny packs). I also had a front and back already cut to size which they laminated. Then they took it all and spiral bound the whole thing. It worked out great. My DD (14) and DS (12) loved them and can now add stickers and such to each characters page.

How many pages? Do you include all the characters? What type of order, alphabetically? How many characters on each page? Do you include the Universal characters as well? For those who use clip art, do you glue the image or use sticker paper?

Ok heres mine I made 3 books 2 small to med sized and one bigger, the bigger is for myself to grab auto with the 2 smaller ones are for DD 2 just in case one gets lost She has a very independent. I used red cardstock and laminated the cover and back of each book, had them bound at staples with colored and white cardstock, I bought stickers and DD wil get to decorate the cover and back pages only on the plane. When we get home I will cut the binding off and place each pages across from the appropriate picture then decorate as I wan't the album is leather and will be ingraved with the dates of the trip.

hope this helpss

p.s. scrapbook stores sell the card stock and paper pre-cut in different sized packages

Here's an old thread on the scrapbook board. I've got pictures of some pages using my autograph books. I still have them :) and just add new papers when we go on another trip. It's worked out great. My user name then was going2wdw.
