Need help, issue with one time use points and waitlist.

Ugh! I thought I had a strategy to get a waitlist approved being short a few points. I purchased 3 OTU points for a reservation, modified that reservation to one that took less points. Those points were not put back into my account, I should have had 18 but I now see 15 available to me. I know they are somewhere though because I called ms earlier this week, thinking I needed to buy 3 points and she said I had 1 OTU point already purchased from an earlier transaction and she applied that. I need 18 points to cover that waitlist! I set it up this way so that if I found the room by stalking, I could grab it. If anyone understands what I am talking about, do you have any advice?

You need to call MS to modify a reservation made with transferred points. OTU points are considered transferred points. You can't see them.

That's news to me that you could see OTU points. As Deb mentioned normally you can't and would have to call in to book with them. If you have a waitlist fill though the CM should use the OTU points towards it.

The 15 points I can see are not OTU. I have 3 OTU that I can't see so that is correct I guess. I will call when ms is open. Hopefully they can see those points if the waitlist comes available. I won't be able to snag the room myself though

Ah - ok. Then yes, MS would be able to see them and use them towards the waitlist if it fills. It is a person doing it though so always a very slight chance they might not but I have some transferred points that I'm unable to see but MS has used them to complete waitlists so you should be good that way. But if you see a room you'd have to call in to try and book it using them unless there's another reservation they could allocate the points towards so you have your own points visible to you.

I have another idea......if I use those otu points to book a studio that is 18 points and I find the 2 bedroom I'm waitlisted for, will I be able to modify the studio ( and the 1 bedroom I have) to the 2 bedroom myself? I am finding availability overnight which is why I'm trying so hard to come up with a strategy .
Nevermind. I just tried it and it's a no go.

Nope. Anything with OTU points has to be handled via MS.
