need help immediately!!! (long)

We need help from recent intimate brides who have upgraded their wedding cakes. DD is getting married 12/6/05. We have just been switched to Jennifer O'Leary as EM. DD wants to upgrade to Mickey's Delight (fandant with Mickey heads imprinted on sides). Jennifer has now twice refused, saying it can't be done. We know from reading these boards that it can & that a number of intimate brides have done it. It all depends on how flexable the EM is. DD is so angry now, she is in no shape to deal with the EM again, so I'm going to try to call her tomorrow, but I need some concrete info before I talk to her. If anyone has done it & would be willing to share info (picture of your cake or a description of it, etc & what hoops you had to jump through to get it) we would really appreciate it.Please PM asap.

Sorry your DD is having so much trouble.

Has she seen picture of this that she could send? Are you talking about the tiny Mickey heads that go all over the cake?

I saw a cake just like that somewhere this week in brides photos. If this is what you are looking for I will search and find out where it is.

Did your EM say *why* it can't be done? Is your DD's preferred cake supposedly too fancy/large/whatever for an Intimate Wedding?

You might need to talk to an EM Supervisor to make sure that what your new EM is telling you is the actual policy.

I had Jennifer before we had to cancel our wedding, and she is very much new to this whole process. Before becoming an EM she was just selling the wedding packages to brides. You'll probably just have to keep that in mind while working with her. I know your daughter must be getting really anxious about her wedding, what you could do is ask to speak directly to who will be making the cake. I think this depends on where you're getting married, if say the Boardwalk Bakery is making her intimate cake I would call them and speak to them directly about paying to upgrade or if your daughter is having her ceremony at the wedding pavilion it may be the Grand Floridian that is making the cake. When I had Lynn, I was told that I couldn't have the white chocolate castle as a cake topper, really it's really up to the EM's as to what options you have. Just because another intimate bride was able to have it at her wedding, you might not be able to unless you switch EM's.

I would speak to the EM's superviser. I know that you can always speak to Jeff Ralls. He seems to be the man to go to with any problems, etc... I am not sure if he is the boss for your EM, but I know he was the one for us to go to in regards to our SM and EM. We sent letters (emails) to him regarding our happiness with both our SM and EM. I would advise against going to Jeff Rauls initally, without going to your SM first. Jeff is the head of the entire FTW department, so that is kind of like going from the CM at the resort desk to the head of resorts. Talk to your SM, ask them who else you could contact if they can't help you resolve the issues.

And BTW, I was the one whith the Mickey's Delight cake. It comes for a min of 50 people, which comes out to be around $400. Your EM may be thinking you want the cake as part of your package or something. Make sure you are clear that you want to pay the difference, and you should have no problem...TONS of intimates have done this!
