We are heading down in a few days and I'm panicking. My son has anxiety/OCD/ODD and we have never stayed at OKW so he could be thrown for a loop due to the unfamiliar. Because we have not been able to move our ressie, a friend suggested we request near the Hospitality House, bldgs 61, 62 or 63 so he will be closer to food, pool, bus, etc. where he's never stayed at this resort before he won't have to search. I just called to make the request (I know...may not be honored). The CM told me most of those rooms were HA...does anyone know if that is accurate. I don't need, nor necessarily want, a HA room and am wondering if I should alter my request. TIA for any help!

I know that area has a special booking code to it. All rooms in that area are not HA. A few of the buildings there do have elevators in them but that would be the only thing w/ HA. We stayed in 2 of the buildings-- one across the HH- with the waterfountain outside the balcony and then one across from the gift shop. Sorry, I can't remember the building numbers.

We stay every other year at OKW and the HH staff are wonderful. We normal don't make a building request and they generally give us an option of 2-3 buildings to choose from. Last yr we requested a rehab room due do DS allergies and they again gave us several buildings to choose from that were completed.

Good luck with your trip. DS12 considers this his other home!

Have a magical trip!

Thank you. On top of all of his issues, he will be turning 17 the day after we get back and really doesn't want to go. Keeping him steady is a priority for us to have a decent trip. It's the little things that will set him off...not knowing where to go for what he wants...so if we can get a bldg that is more centrally located it will be much easier for us all ;)

Maybe this map will help...

THere is no building 61. You could request 62, 63, 64, or even 16 or 15 and be fairly close to HH. Another option is buildings 28 or 29. FYI, if you are in a 1 bedroom and have anyone sleeping in the living room, do NOT request a number lower than 30, because those buildings do not have a second privacy door into the master bath.

Thank you for the map and suggestions. We currently have a ressie for a dedicated 2bdrm (although we did not specifically requested the "dedicated" part).

I think I might ask for buildings 11 - 13 as they are directly across from the HH, pool and food areas. I am not fond of the 2 BR we had in 14 which was next to the road so you hear all the buses coming and going more than you would if you were in one of the other buildings. I imagine to ones in the center of that building do not have that issue however. Good luck and hope you have a great trip and that your son does well with the new resort. You may find he loves it.

I did ask about buildings in the HH areas and was told those are a separate category that need to be requested when making the ressie (she did check for me and told me there wasn't any availability).

Buildings 11-14 and 23-26 are in the Hospitality House (HH) area where the reservation is guaranteed.

There are several other buildings that I consider to be "near" HH that may be requested. Buildings 62-64 (the ones with elevators) are very close, 15, 16, 17, 18, 27, 28 and 29 are also nearby and can easily be served by either the Peninsular Road or HH bus stops.

15,16,17 and 18 are a little closer to the Miller Road stop, but that is generally the last stop before HH and it will be a little faster to get off at Peninsular and walk even to those buildings.

None of the buildings are too far from HH and there are neighborhood pools next to Building 19, Buildings 41/42 and Buildings 55/56. Every bus will stop at HH before leaving the resort and the internal bus stops at HH before going to the other stops - so transportation to/from HH is not inconvenient either.

There is no concentration of HCA villas in the HH category as they are scattered throughout the resort and every building at OKW has dedicated 2BR villas and lock-off 2BR villas (as well as Studios and 1BRs).

I wouldn't really worry too much about any location.

Enjoy! :)

since OKW is more like a community than a hotel - really think he will be fine.

OKW is very, very relaxing.

so would get as far from HH - the only thing for me not relaxing - as possible.

it has other pools and other bus stops.

where do you normally stay?

would also make sure your refrigerator is full - by ordering before your arrival.

Lots of good information...THANK YOU!

For the most part we usually stay at BWV's, but have stayed a few times at VWL and BLT. I think my kids have been very spoiled with BWV's locale!

We also usually stop at the store before check-in to stock up on drinks, snack, etc. for the room so there will be food in the room.

I'm sure I'm putting the cart before the horse, but sometimes with him you have to try to think a few steps ahead to avoid problems that aren't problems to you and I, but can be major problems for him.

Thanks all :)
