Need help from Disney Veterans!

Last year we had our first trip to the World- planned on a whim, less than 60 days out, and went end of August/beginning of September. We were able to take advantage of a special offer on rooms, and had a great stay. We are planning on returning this year, same time. Does anyone know if Disney offers this discounted room rate offer every year? If I book now, will they honor the discount if it becomes available? Thanks!

It really all depends on availability and how many rooms they have to sell. Odds are they will offer something - but the resorts (or room types) included will likely be limited. And the number of rooms available under the discount are limited too.

IF your resort and room type is included, you can call (or go online) to see if the discount is available and if so change to it. Or consider changing room type/resort to book it.

If you will go anyway, go ahead and book so you know you have a room - then consider any discount a bonus.

Check out Mousesavers.com, and search historical discounts, and click on the chart they have, which will show what has been offered during your timing, and when it was released. Most years there has been a free dining offer at that time and some type of room discount, but every yr is different. It is usually a little slower time with kids going back to school, but with starting MNSSHP earlier and this yr. bringing F&W to Sept. we will see. Just so you know, there are often bounceback offers available that you can book before you leave that offer a discount now for your next trip. If you do not see one in your room on a booklet or flyer, you can dial 8844 to get info.

While you are on Mousesavers, sign up for their newsletters, to get info on new things happening each month and deal alerts. You will see on their home page a list of all current discounts, and should get an email when new things are released, but I find it is not always consistent. So be vigilant and check there and here of course for announcements! BTW, if you book now, and a discount is announced, it will not be applied to your reservation - you must call and ask if they can apply it, if rooms are available at your resort. Or you can book a new reservation that fits with the resorts and dates included in the discount offered, and then cancel old one. Room discounts will only apply to dates listed, free dining applies if you check in by the last day of an offer, and includes your whole trip.

Last year, we had a CL room at Yacht Club, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves... especially since kids are 10,9 and 6 and they thought SAB was the best thing ever invented. I am looking into CL again, but thinking we might like to give WL a try this year. Construction doesn't bother us, and it seems like the CL offerings (I believe posted by you- such a help!) would be more appealing to the kids. Last year they were so-so about YC food in the evenings.

Lol, yeah, that was probably me. I was just there and did post a bunch over on the CL thread.

Most of our stays have been CL and I've always been able to find what I considered a good general public discount. I only book room-only discounts, I don't do packages, free dining, or any of that stuff. Occasionally I have to be a little flexible with days to catch a window where I can get a discount to be available. But if you pay attention to when they come out and jump on it when they do, you'll have better chances of success.

One minor risk in WL CL is that the inventory of CL rooms to book right now is so incredibly small - they took away a ton of rooms for DVC construction. That may/may not lead to a smaller number of rooms being available for a discount during your time period.

There will be threads around here (if there aren't already) with folks following the late summer discount offers. Subscribe to those types of threads and start paying close attention around the time Mousesavers shows discounts were released last year and you'll be way ahead of most people!
