Hi! We're driving down to Disney this Thursday  and want to stop overnight somewhere between Atlanta and Macon. Could anybody tell me what towns are in between there so I can check hotels? Tia

Oh.....there is this cute historic place called The New Perry Hotel....that is their website. Mom has wanted to stay there for years but our timing stinks cause the Resturant is closed on Sundays.

It looks wicked cool. Please check it out and let me know what you think....

If the New Perry Hotel is actually in Perry, GA, that's south of Macon, a little farther than the stretch you're talking about.

Going south from Atlanta there's Stockbridge, Jonesboro, McDonough, and Hampton. Those are all pretty much still Atlanta suburbs. Going a little farther, there's Griffin a few miles off I-75 and Forsyth before you get to Macon.

If you want to try to get past Macon, Warner Robins and Perry would be your best options.

The exit for Forsyth has several small hotels and motels (all national chains) right off the highway. You don't have to deal with Atlanta traffic as you are far enough south and just enough north of Macon that you don't deal with that either.

We stayed there once in Dec. Couldn't figure out why the room was cold. Finally figured it out. The room wasn't heated. What heat you got came from the open transom above the door. The hallway was heated!

A page from the old old days.

Here is a funny thing, actually two, that happened in their restaurant. I swear this is true.

We are waiting for our food. The couple next to us was served dark meat chicken, they ordered white. They had to wait another 10-15 minutes for the correct order.

We are wondering where our order was. After 20 minutes I asked the waiter where is it. He goes into the kitchen and five minutes later came out to advise us it will be out in five minutes..........it was too hot to serve. (?????)

When it came out it was too cold to eat.

They did have an excuse. "Under new management"

Another place to check would be Morrow. Would suggest Morrow and McDonough for cities to check. If you are making bad time and don't want to get hurt by Atlanta traffic (Braves are playing Thursday night) - Marietta or Roswell to the north
