My husband and I are babysitting some friends kids while they go to a wedding in Orlando. We are going to take the girls to Disney, but they are 2.5 and 8 months. We have no clue what to do with them. Any ideas on what the older one might enjoy? We are trying to avoid the MK because they are coming back with mom in August to do that and we don't want to take away mom's joy of seeing the toddler see the MK.

Personally, I would not do any park with them. IMHO, the little one is too little and while on a ride with the older one, one of you adults will just be waiting around with a child in a stroller the whole time....to me sounds like..... heat, frustration and a long day :sad2:
Think your heart is in a good place, but perhaps a water park visit would be better, go for a little while, splash around and leave in early afternoon???
Good Luck with whatever you choose to do....

If you choose a park Hollywood Studios has great stuff for toddlers. They have the Playhouse Disney show plus all the the characters to meet and greet, Honey I shrunk the kids playground, little mermaid show, beauty and the beast show, Muppet Movie.

Downtown Disney would also be a fun place to go. They have the super fun water fountain near the christmas store. When my daughter was 2 she played in that fountain for over 2 hours (the water shoots out of the sidewalk). Just make sure to bring a change of clothes! They also have huge character statues all around the area that the kids can look at, touch etc. There is a small carousel & a train ride (i think). You can get ice cream at Ghirardelli, walk through the shops, get face painting, sit along the water, take a boat ride from DTD to the Port Orleans resort, go play on the PO playground and then take the boat ride back to DTD.

Thank you so much for the ideas!

We are annual passholders who live about 30 min from the world, so we normally spend at least one or two late afternoons a week there, but we have never spent time there with little kids to learn what is there for them.

Again, thank you so much!!!!

Animal Kingdom is great at that age. There is a great play area, a lot of the park is walking so you can all stay together while you look at the animals. the only ride worth seeing is the safari which everyone can go on. The Lion King show is good too.

If you have them two day go to the Dr Phillips park off of 535 it is a water playground that is fabulous & only cost $1.00 per person
