Need help for picky husband

I have a picky husband who likes Filet Mignon Steak, New York Strip steaks. He doesnt like any sauce, any fancy sides, nothing elaborate, no wines, (sweet tea) just a good steak. Me, I could go for anything that is new and something I just cant get anywhere. Im up for new things, he is not.

Meat and taters is what he is. Pizza, hamburgers, etc. PICKY PICKY PICKY

We want to plan a dinner for Jan 17th...

which is the best place to satisfy his steak needs and my "will try anything" appetite?

I would like it to be semi-romantic. Nothing too frilly. Im not into much frills anyway...just nice tables, nice atmosphere, nothing where I cant enjoy my dinner without having the proper tablewear etiquette. LOL

I have tried Yachtsman Steakhouse, La Cellier and Concourse Steakhouse.
As I am not a steak eater I cannot comment on how the steak was at any of these places. Although someone in my party at Yachtsman had the steak and they really liked it.
What I can tell you is as far as non steak selections I found that La Cellier and Yachtsman had more to offer.
I wasn't very impressed with what I had at Concourse.
Also for atmosphere I think you'll find La Cellier and Yachtsman to have a more romantic relaxed environment.
Concourse has the monorail running overhead which is different, but a little noisy. Also it is right next to Chef Mickey's so you get the noise from there also.

For pure, plain, large steak, Shula's is the best. But a limited menu otherwise and it is $$$$$.
Otherwise I agree with disnygrl00. Sounds like Le Cellier might be your best bet, given all your criteria.
Should add that the Maya Grill is now something of a steakhouse, tho I've rarely seen a review of the place---

LeCellier at Epcot

The only thing I would do is put LeCeller at the top of that list. The cheese soup is probably going to appeal to him. It is very good and they use chedder, nothing fancy, smelly, or French.

It is also in the park. We have eaten there many times. At most of the resturuants that we visit often, I order the same thing again and again. I like plain stuff too and do not get real adventerous very often. I have ordered a bunch of different things here and never been dissappointed.

One place that hasn't been mentioned yet is California Grill - I'm in the same DH situation you are, in that I'm the adventurous eater and he likes plain, plain, plain! LOL And the Grill satisfies on both counts, with a terrific filet, and LOTS of wonderful choices for your tastes too.

Since I've been on this message board, it seems that I have heard alot of excellent comments about Le Cellier, especially their steaks.

If you don't want to break the bank - for a great meal try Olivia's at Old Key West. They have 2 cuts of prime rib that are excellent - $9.99 for 8 oz and I think $12.99 for a 12 oz. 2 of our friends had the 8 oz. in the beginning of December, but I'm sure it was close to a pound and it was excellent. I had the filet and lobster stuffed shrimp with smashed potatoes (excellent). We can't wait to return to Olivia's on our next trip -- no "fru-fru" food hear, but a great variety on the menu. Ask for Catoe as you waiter. He was wonderful.

My advice is to pick the most exotic-sounding place you can find, as long as they have some sort of steak on the menu. It's next to impossible to "fancy-up" a plain meat&potatoes place, but super easy to "plain-down" an exotic place. The bonus is that at WDW, you won't get attitude for the plain request. ("Is Madame certain she would not like the salmon and lentil puree? *sniff* ") California Grill and Artist Point both fit the bill admirably, IMO, without being overly stuffy. Not to say that Yachtsman, Le Cellier, and Shula's aren't fine restaurants, but you might not do so well at those with your "I like new things I can't get just anywhere" wish.

Isnt there a good steak at Cinderella's Royal Table? I think I saw on the menu a Filet. Does anyone know about their steaks?

Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge is an excellent place for good beef, and other selections that may be considred more adventerous. Ask for the far (right) corner window table and you will have a beautiful view to enjoy over a leisurely dinner.

Chef Robert considers himself a meat and potatoes man, and will honor just about any request for clean, simple tastes. If there is a sauce involved, it can be withheld or placed on the side.

This tends to be a relatively quiet adult restaurant, although families with children do dine there as well, of course!

Jiko, at Animal Kingdom Lodge, has a marvelous filet with macaroni and cheese! You can't get much more basic than that. Chef Annette does a marvelous "thing" with this dish and it is one of the most popular. You will find a number of choices to peak your interest in trying something new.

Regarding Le Cellier, I truly enjoy this restaurant, but the meat and potatoes person I took there did not like the steak. Pronounced it too saucy with one of those "funny wine sauces" all over it. So, if you do choose Le Cellier be certain to double check the sauces that may be a part of the dish!

We ate at Le Cellier with our recent CP package. We both had the filet mignon-ordered without the arugula butter. I had the garlic mashed potatoes which I loved. DW substituted the roasted yukon potatoes, which were also very good. Cheese soup & pretzel bread were excellent, as well. We don't have steak often, but have done so at this restaurant 4 times now, and it has always been delicious!
