We're heading 1/22-1/29 at PO-FQ ! We chose it because it'll be me, my DH & 2 year old son & didn't want a very spread out hotel with long treks to the food courtyard or busses. We also liked the quiet atmosphere. Our main concerns are as follows :

1) How are the courtyard meals. Big selection ? Plenty of seating ? We like simple, comfort food while on vacation ?
2) I like walking around pretty manicured lawns with trees, flowers and benches for sitting & relaxing. I LOVE walking around lakes with places to just sit & think & hear the water lapping. Will I be disappointed ?
3) How spread out is it ? Since I'm the early riser I wanted to get the family breakfast so they can eat in bed, is that a long trek ?
4) How is the bus transportation ?

Any suggestions or tips are most appreciated !!! :earsgirl:

The courtyard meals are nice. They do have a typical breakfast selection (cereals, eggs pancakes etc) i have always been able to find a seat. If you are an early riser and wanted to take it to your room they could make it to-go for you.

I would love waking up (I'm an early bird as well) and walking around the grounds. I'd follow the lake POR and walk there too. You see the other morning walkers as well and everyone is just so friendly. It really gets you ready for your day to walk around their proprerty in the peaceful morning. The landscaping is gerogeous at both POFQ and POR.

The hotel isn't very spreqad out, which is nice. It's easy to get to food, the pool, the bus, the lobby, the boat dock. Anywhere you would like to go. As I said I would often like walking so much in the morning I'd walk to POR, it is also very close.

The buses are nice there. We never had to wait very long to get one and some of the drivers are extra fun. They'll play disney trivia games, have a sing a long, etc. It really makes the ride seem more fun and shorter as well.

I think you have made a great choice so relax you'll have a great time.

I don't think you will be disappointed with any of it. The meals were great and the food court was plenty big enough with lots of choices. Easy to get around! And the grounds are just beautiful. I too would walk around the water. YOu will love it! Hve fun!

We were just there last week - so let me give you our details. We were put in building 7, on the 3rd floor, facing the parking lot. (we requested building 5 - however they were moving people OUT of the Carribbean Beach resort and into POFQ - so it was take what you could get! )

1. There was a good selection of food at the food court...pastas, pizzas, burgers, chicken fingers, salads, deli sandwhiches, muffins/bagels, pancakes/waffles, etc... during dinner they had roasted chicken, and some other more "elaborate" meals.

2. Even being in building 7 (the furthest away), the walk to the food court/lobby/pool took MAYBE 3 minutes tops. After the Hurricane blew through the grounds were pretty messy (leaves/sticks/etc...), however they were doing their best to clean up from it. The grounds ARE pretty...fountains and benches and huge pathes of grass...very calming.

3. Like I said...not that spread out at all...very easy to walk.

4. the bus transportation was decent. I guess I was spoiled staying at AKL in the past who didn't share a bus with any other resort. POFQ has one bus stop, PO Riverside had 4 stops...so sometimes it just felt like it took forever to get somewhere. (sometimes we were the first picked up/dropped off, sometimes we were the last...)

All in all...a very nice resort, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I stayed there at POFQ in May about a month after they re-opened it up and I really enjoyed it. We stayed in building 1 but on the inside and facing the river so the view was not too bad at all. Our walk to the food court was about 2 mins. tops once I figured out the shortest path through the shrubs/sidewalks.

As for the meals they were not too bad. We only ate there twice in a week but we did go down there for late night snacks at their little bakery there. There setting area is a little small compared to other moderates but it only got crowded there once while we were there. The fare there is mainly burgers/hot dogs/pizza with one shop offering a fairly good pasta type meals (Chicken Parmesan was REALLY good...). The pot roast they offer at dinner is also an excellent choice.

As for the landscaping you will not be disappointed. You definitely get the feel of walking in a New Orleans type setting.

POFQ is a compact resort as compared to the others but I found it to be very quiet in the mornings. As for breakfast you MUST get some beignets!!! I know when we stayed there we brought our own breakfast (cereal, bagels, fruit, coffee) along with a toaster and bowls and saved a ton. All we did was go to the food court and get some milk and we were set.

Bus transportation was great. We took our car and parked right next to the bus station and had no longer than a 5 minute wait only once. The parked car saved a long walk back to the room after walking for hours in the parks......
