We are going to be arriving at disneyland Sunday nigth the 20th after driving back from the Grand Canyon. I am told it will be an 8-10 hour drive. We have five day park hoppers and will be in DL till Friday (mtwth leaving fri 3:50 flight).
Seeing how this is the only time that the fireworks will be showing (also the DCA electrical parade) does it make sense to burn a ticket for that evening after such a long drive or save it for Friday 1/2 day. We are flying out LAX on friday. We are traveling with DD 11 and DS 13 and DS 15 and staying at GCH. Please help!!!
Can you see the Fireworks from the Hotel??

Well if you have 5 day tickets, it's only $15 more to upgrade to a 6 day ticket. I really think $15 is totally worth going for the fireworks and whatever rides you can do that first night. Maybe even try and sneek in Fantasmic in there too!

You can see the fireworks from the GCH, but you would be missing out on the audio and other special effects that are only seen from in the park. Seeing the fireworks from outside is like going to a musical and having your ears plugged during the songs. You can see a little bit, but you don't get the entire experience.

I agree with the above commentors- go for the 6 day!

Has anyone ever done that drive?? Should I bother with making reservations to eat somewhere that night. You are right we shouldn't miss the best day of festivities.

I wouldnt make reservations, you might be too rushed.

I might not buy an extra day on the tix either. I think the fireworks are great and worth it but you might find you want a day off during the week to rest your feet and to hang at the pool or beach.

Just be aware that there's no guarantee that you will actually see the fireworks on the 20th - due to wind conditions they are subject to cancellation - and that happens a lot more often than any of us would like!!!

If you're staying Concierge you can see them from the Lounge, but otherwise you'd have to have a Downtown Disney view room, I think.

You can see the fireworks from the esplanade between DL and DCA - and there's no charge to watch from there! You won't hear the music or see the projections and the lower stuff that happens around the castle and on Main Street, but you'll be able to see everything that's up higher. Another place to watch them from is the Mickey and Friends parking garage - you get a pretty good view from there if you're on the top floor of the garage...though it's better if you can get a spot on one of the outside stairwells, but you have to get there a little early for that.

We are staying Concierge so watching from the lounge is a good option. Our room is "garden view". I guess we can see how we feel when we get there. Do they pipe in the music in the Lounge? From what I have been reading it sounds like the 20th is going to be packed due to the cheerleaders. Thanks for the responses!

One last question: If we are arriving Sunday early eve is there a quick and easy place to stop to grab a quick bite just before we hit the hotel or should we stick with DTD or White water snacks. 3 more weeks!!:dance3:

I doubt will will add a 6th day but maybe we would take a day off during the week and still do Friday morning. We have reservations for Napa Rose for an anniversay dinner. I hope it won't be too gourmet for my taste.
