My DS is in middle school and is allowed to use a rolling backpack. He just started to use one the second semester of school last year. I looked everywhere then (around January-February) and was only able to find one at Walmart. It did not hold up. Just from the use from Feb to end of May, it had numerous holes (near the top seam) etc.

So, I really want to buy him a good quality rolling backpack for this year. Of course, I would don't want to invest a huge fortune in it.

Has anyone had experience using a rolling backpack that stands up to daily use? I would appreciate any suggestions!

L.L. Bean has rolling backpacks... and their guarantee can't be beat!

Land's End. You'll get differing opinions here (and they're not cheap) but we love Land's End. Love them. We have a middle schooler and went with their biggest backpack this year because she needs to have a laptop with her. I know they make rolling backpacks as well.

Another vote for LL Bean. The backpacks are very durable and if there is a problem , they replace it.

Check out pottery barn teen. They have great backpacks, great quality that really last.

Thanks so much for the endorsements! I will check out the three sites that everyone mentioned today! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I feel better spending the money for a quality backpack when I can support the decision from great endorsements!

I just knew the DISboards was the place to come for help! I find the information I get here - much more valuable feedback than the Consumer Reports information that my DH subscribed too.

I asked this question back in January when our Target cheapies wore out. The overwhelming response was LL Bean and Lands End. We ended up with LL Bean because I found a decent sale and have been very happy so far.

My daughter's LL bean rolling has been going strong for 3 years! And it still looks new!(of course she doesn't want to use it anymore)

Same with my sons LL Bean. 3 years ond and still in good shape. I am trying to convince him to wati until next year to buy new. This is the last year he can use rolling.

Another vote for LL Bean here.

If you're a Discover Card holder, don't forget you can use your rewards $$ to get gift cards for either LL Bean or Land's End. I believe if you go through Discover's site, you can get bonus cash back with Land's End.

The bags are expensive (great quality & guarantees), but I've used my rewards $$, so the last two I purchased have been FREE!

I'm using my Discover rewards points to buy my kids new LL Bean backpacks this school year. Their older LL Bean backpacks are bumping down to being used for their swim gear (they swim year round).

I agree Lands End is the only way. My daughter went through three walmart backpacks in one year. We had stains rips and just bad quality. We now will only use Lands End.

Thanks for the information about Discovery Card rewards. I will have to check it out!

LL Bean. My son has had his four 3 years and it is still in great shape. We each have one now and they work great for carry-on bags, too.

I love love love my rolling backpack..."Outdoor Products" is what it says for the name but let me tell you that thing has been through the paces. I am in college and broke my foot during the fall semester and was pregnant during the spring semester (adult returned to school) anyways so i didnt want a bag I would have to lift. I have bumped it up stair and down stairs and it has had to carry 3 classes worth of books at one time (one book easily weights 10 pounds) and not a thread out of place. I will be using it for the third semester this fall :)

I really don't think you can go wrong with Lands End or LL Bean. We, personally, have a Lands End and it has been rolling along for about 2.5 years now. My dd just had a ton of books she was trucking along with so we got a rolling back pack and lunch bag set from Lands End. That bag is wonderful! It holds everything and, even though I think she is nuts to do so, my dd sometimes pulls the straps out and makes it into a backpack (if needed). They have a sale right now but it is only about $5.00 off I think.

Thanks everybody. I just ordered my son the deluxe rolling backpack at LL Bean. It hurt a bit to have to order the rolling version for 79.95 instead of the same deluxe backpack with no wheels listed at 39.95. Oh well, that is the way it is I guess.

I ordered a rolling one from lands end for dd. it was $5.00. I have only ordered through pottery barn before and they quality is great so Im hoping for the same..
