I DESPERATE TO FIND A MINNIE FROM 1999 sold in the MK.The background story: The day the judge made our daughters adoption final we drove to WDW to meet my entire family and celebrate. That day my then 6 month old grabbed a stuffed Minnie in one of the stores at MK, which I of course bought. For some reason she wouldn't let go of it and it became her constant companion through the next 7 years. Minnie slept with her travelled with her, swam with her (yes she got soaked), basically anywhere my DD went Minnie went too. We even started getting clothes made for Minnie to match my DD on special occasions as her original dress was falling apart from being washed so often. Fast forward to the end of 1st grade and my DD takes Minnie to school with her (smuggled her into her bookbag as I didn't allow Minnie to go to school for this very reason) and looses her. Of course she didn't tell me that until two days later when the school was closed for the summer. No matter who I tried I couldn't get anyone to help me find Minnie. I replaced her with a Minnie that I found in a store close by but it wasn't her Minnie. That was two and a half years ago. She still talks about Old Minnie and prays that whoever took her is taking care of her. Her greatest fear is that someone threw her in the garbage can. She will break down in tears when she thinks about what could have happened to Old Minnie. So this weekend she wrote out her Christmas List for Santa. There are only 12 things on the list, none of them a really big deal. EXCEPT number 10 "Santa, I know that you have lots of gifts to take to lots of other kids so if you don't have the time you could just bring me Old Minnie and nothing else would be necessary". OK I'm crying again.:sad1: PLEASE, if anyone has a stuffed Minnie Mouse aproximately 1 foot high, with no tail, and not the really big feet that was sold in WDW during 1998-99 that they would be willing to sell please PM. I have to find this for my DD as her CHristmas List did me in.

do you have any pictures of the minnie so we can look for one?

Awww your poor daughter, my heart is breaking for her!! I still have the very first Mickey Mouse I ever received. I was in 2nd grade at the time, I'm now 37. He looks well loved, has been sewed back together many times, and up until I was in my 20's (nobody ever said I wasn't strange LOL) he traveled everywhere I went (on vacations) and slept with me every night. Now he sits on a shelf in my room watching over me. LOL (Gotta laugh at my crazy self!!)

I'm going to Disney on Friday, if you want I'll pick up a new Minnie for you and will ship it to you with a letter saying whatever you want, I'll even see if I can get Minnie to autograph the letter!! Let me know before Thursday, I'll print up something cute here at work in color and bring it with me and mail it from Disney.

I don't want to be Debbie Downer or anything, but even if you replace her old Minnie, she most likely will know it is not the "original one".
My nephew is very attached with a pooh bear he had since birth. My sister had two of these Pooh's so when the first one lost his arm in a washing, she replaced it with the second Pooh (thinking why not, it is the same thing). He noticed immedietly that this Pooh was NOT his Pooh. So my sister had to come clean and explain that his Pooh had to move on and that this Pooh will be there for him. He now calls his "new" pooh - Momma Pooh.
I am not sure how they know, maybe it is a smell or a particular way they feel, but they do know.

It may be best that you explain to your child that someone needed Minnie more then her and is taking great care of her Minnie and that she can choose a new stuffed animal who will need her love and care now that the "old Minnie" has grown up and moved on.

I know how hard it is and as parents we try so hard not to break our little ones heart.

:sad1: Now you have me in tears. We went through a very similar thing with DS blankie. While on a quick trip to Disney's HH, he left blankie on a chair while we went to play putt putt. Best guess is that mousekeeping didn't see it, thru the sheets and towels on the chair then scooped them all up including blankie  Of course I immediately called the front desk and they wanted a description of blankie. Well, blankie was 8 years old by then, had originally started out as a plaid pastel colored receiving blanket. By now, blankie had no color, was mostly a long string, tied together in spots. It definitely was not recognizable as being a blanket. They tried to find it, even called their contractors, searched the laundry room but never did find it. DS cried for days, barely sleeping. When we got home from our trip, I found a piece of blankie on the family room floor ( I wasn't kidding, blankie was in bad shape!) I had to safety pin the piece of blankie on the corner of "new blankie", seperately washing blankie by hand for a year and a half before I could convince DS that blankie needed to be put away for safe keeping. New blankie has finally lost the "new" part of it's name, but it's been 2 1/2 years since this happened and there are still times that he loses it when he thinks about it, especially if you mention HH.

I hope Santa is able to find old minnie for your daughter. Please let us know how it turns out. Sending pixie dust your way! pixiedust:

Got an idea, why not have the one fellow type a letter "from minnie" saying how nice it was that your child shared the old minnie with another child and that the old minnie is very happy in her new home. and now minnie mouse would like your kid to have a new minnie. maybe get a signed pic of minnie to go along with it. Then, your child can have peace knowing old minnie is happy, real minnie is happy and your kid can have a minnie to snuggle with

or santa can send a letter simply tlling your kid the same thing that the old minnie is happy in her new home

We've tried talking about how she was needed by someone else and that seh is surely bringing much joy to a little girl that needed her but nothing works. I've had to leave the room several times at night when she prays for Old Minnie to return to her. Anyway, I went through several pages on e-bay (don't know why I didn't think of that) and just when I was about to give up I clicked a different link and scrolled down and there she was. I asked the seller to send a little message saying that Minnie was glad she was being returned to my DD and that she hoped my DD didn't mind that the people she was visiting with cleaned her up a little. My DD is gullible when it comes to Minnie so she might just believe it although it will be cleaned up a LOT as her Minnie had no bow and I had sewn on a piece of velcro to attach a bow I had made. Even if it doesn't work my DD will know I love her enough to try. It was really wierd though the number of Minnies that were for sale and none were the right one except that one. Thanks everyone for the support and best wishes.

MinnieSummer,

Your post had me in tears.

I am so glad you found a "new" Minnie and I think your daughter is going to appreciate old Minnie's makeover. ;)

I'm so glad to hear that you found Minnie! This reminds me a lot of a pillow I had when I was a kid. My grandma made a pillow and gave it to my mom at her baby shower before I was born. That darned pillow went everywhere with me. When I was 12 years old (I'm not kidding either) I demanded my dad take me to my grandma's house so she could "fix" my pillow. Well, she couldn't fix it because it was so tattered, but would you believe it? She still had the exact material to make me another one! I have the second one to this day...and I had my original one for quite awhile afterwards, but I think the first one was thrown out when my parents moved a few years ago. I love to hear stories like this :)

I am so happy you found another one for her!!
Kim

So GLAD to hear of a happy ending!! Maybe you could tell your DD that MINNIE was sprinkled with PIXIE DUST! Joan

Could you update us on this thread when the "new" Minnie arrives and let us know how it went??? :goodvibes
