Hi --
I was counting on staying at the Dolphin during my upcoming trip (Sept. 26- Oct. 2), only to be told yesterday when I called to make reservations that there are NO rooms available. Apparently they are sold out for one of the nights I'm going to be there (Weds., Sept. 28). Does anybody have any strategies on how to get a room for this period? (I'm planning on just calling the main number several times weekly until shortly before my trip.) I went ahead and made res. at the CBR and Coronado Springs, but I really wanted to stay closer to the parks, etc., since I have a three-year-old.
Thanks!

Welcome to the DIS.

Have you considered the Swan? It's next door and offers probably the same amenities. Alternatively, you have Boardwalk Inn, Beach and Yacht Club also there within easy walking distance of EPCOT and boating distance of MGM.

With a 3 YO, though, you may be better off trying to stay near Magic Kingdom. There, you have WL, which is accessible to MK by boat, or the monorail resorts: Polynesian, Grand Floridian or Contemporary.

I should have mentioned that I would be eligible for various discounts at the Dolphin (making it MUCH less expensive than the "Deluxe" resorts) and that the Swan is also sold out.

Hi and Welcome, Debbie,

I think one thing you can do is what you already mentioned...just keep calling. Often there will be cancellations closer to the date you are supposed to go.

Another thing I can think of is: are your dates flexible? Maybe a few days earlier or later to avoid the 28th?

Good luck,

Bob

Are they completely booked in every single rate category? If you keep calling, Im sure they will take care of you.

Probably due to a convention. My husband has a convention there the week before and they list it as sold out because the company holding the convention reserves all of the rooms in advance.

I am currently at the Swan with work and we are one of 2 groups here this week. They really cater to the convention crowd. Keep at it and good luck!

Book every night except 9/28. When you get close call the hotel directly and see if they can work with you.

Hi Debbie - I learned long ago from other Swan/Dolphin experts, that calling every Friday after noon can work to your benefit. That is the time when, supposedly, they redeposit cancelled rooms back into their computer system. Hope this helps. We have done this many a time, especially when discounts are offered. I would book the whole thing except the night they are full at the Dolphin. Then keep trying for that night. If worse comes to worse, stay at a DTD hotel that first night and then switch after that.
