hey

I am wanting to book a cruise for sept 2016 and we have been having trouble deciding what to do with weeks now

It's me and my partner both in our mid 20s and we both love Disney.

Now the choice is to do the med cruise in sept 2016 which we are already doing in August this year

Or change to another line and do something else

My choice is limited to that as all the other cruises Disney offer is out off our budget and we can't lower the room to something else as we only take a inside cabin room as it is

Now is there any point in doing the same cruise twice, like this year and next or would you change line even though we do love Disney

I think the show tangled will be on it next year but everything else would be the same

I really want to stay with Disney but is doing the same ports pointless and mybe RC would be better

Thanks for any help as we haven't been able to decide for weeks and need to decide ASAP before the prices go up

Also if I done they Disney cruise would I be better booking it on board this August while on the ship

Thanks

Gary

Just because you dock at the same port does not mean you will have the same experience. There are lots of different excursions and sights to see. And if you don't want to get off the ship, there is still plenty to do onboard. But I would think you can find other cruiselines with a better price point. It is OK to step away from the mouse. I know it is hard, but it can be done.

There are so many places to cruise, why repeat the same cruise the next year? Life is short -- try something different.

Yes, DCL is a great cruise line, but they aren't the only great line out there, just one of the pricier ones.

Yeah that's true we could do different excursions

But that's true to lots of after places to see. Agggghhh it's so hard to decide lol

Med cruise are out and I have one booked! If you don't mind the deposits, I would book the DCL med cruise 9/2016 and find a cruise on another line and hold that cruise. Then when you cruise in August you can decide if you want to do the cruise again in 9/2016 (and possibly rebook for OBB discount); or try different cruise line/itinerary; or do a totally different DCL cruise, again with OBB discount.

BTW, if you have Disney Visa you can put down payment on that 9/2016 Med cruise now and would not have to pay until after you decide on the August cruise.

So what's the OBB discount

Am I better booking now or when am on the ship in August 2015. What's the benfits

I don't get why you would limit yourself like that. Many cruise lines offer incredible, fun experiences AND go to someplace you haven't yet been. I think you should do it. Your love of Disney can remain intact without becoming the "be-all and end-all". The mouse will always be there.

Personally, for the Med I would choose a cruise line that was less expensive and use that savings on some amazing excursions. DCL is great but it still doesn't hold a candle to the beauty and rich history you can experience in port.

This is a really good suggestion!

If it were me and we were a group of 2 adults cruising, I would be looking for a different cruise line for our 2nd cruise. As much as I love Disney I cannot justify the price. You seem to be in the same boat we are (pardon the pun!) in that even an inside stateroom is a huge challenge to the budget. I'm looking around and finding I can get a verandah stateroom on other cruise lines for 2/3 of what an inside stateroom costs me with Disney. That's a large sum of money!!

As the PP recommend above, I would book something now, possibly rebook a BB when you cruise but also keep your options open and check out other cruise lines. Disney is amazing but when it comes to cruising I believe there are other great cruise lines out there also!

You have some time to decide, so I would suggest you decide after the August cruise. See what you think. You might decide to cruise a different area, or you might decide to come back to the Med with a less expensive cruise line, or you might decide to come back with DCL.

I agree with PP who points out that DCL is not vital to have fun in the Med: the ports are the draw. That said, we had a great time in the Med with DCL in 2010, and we went back and did it again in 2013 with DCL. As also mentioned, there is so much to do at each port that we were able to have a completely different experience each time we went. Well, almost completely different; we did make sure to return to a couple of our favorite places on the second trip.

Aww what lovely photos

Yeah tHanks for the advice given

So am I better booking now or on aboard in August. What benfits is there doing it on board

We really wanted to do a Mediterranean in 2016 but with wife and kids school schedule could only do June or July so we jumped ship and went to..................sorry, every time I say this I have to breathe through it, Carnival. Their new ship, the Vista, starts sailing in May 2016. We will be on her 4th voyage doing an 8 day Mediterranean. It looks like a really cool ship and I'm actually a little bummed it's so port intensive. They have some 10 day meds that includes Greece starting at $1049/person for an inside. If you check into it be sure to check out the Havana Cabana rooms, they're very cool and include access to a private pool and bar area on the aft of deck 5. I'm planning on doing a trip report when I get back but am also going into the cruise knowing it is not going to be like my Fantasy and Dream cruises. I just have to keep telling myself that. Good luck with your decision.

I've done the Mexican riviera twice and they were completely different experiences, Different excursions, we did different things onboard. the Mediterranean is just so pricey from the get go, I'm wondering why that's the only one you're looking at? Is it the month you need?

I am able to change month

Was looking at med mainly as that's the cheapest flights for us from UK

Typically, it is wise to book now and then shop again onboard. Because prices go up over time, you should book now. You can always cancel later without penalty. Then, when you are on board in August, check again. Booking on board can save 10%, and provide a stateroom credit. So if you find that booking on board is a better deal, book on board, then cancel the first booking when you get home and move that money to the booking you made while on the ship.

I don't think there's anything wrong with repeating the itinerary. We're doing a med B2B next summer, we toyed with the 12 night med but in the end chose to do two 7 nights which gives us 2 extra nights and we're having no trouble planning what we'd like to do in the ports. If I were you, I'd book now then see how you feel onboard.

We know we could get a better deal sailing with someone else, especially since many cruises go from only 30 minutes from where we live, and we're sure we'll cruise with another line in the future - however at the moment DCL is who we want to sail with.
