Okay experts, I need your help! We are planning our 4th trip to WDW in early Feb.2003. Started the Disney experience in 1999 and became hooked. Our family consist of DH, 2 teen DD's, my adult DB, and myself. because there are 5 of us our choice of resorts are pretty much limited to a Deluxe. We stayed in a tower room at the Contemp the first two years and a junior suite at WL the last time, in 2000. There is so much we all love about the Contemp. We also enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of WL The Jr suite was great for 5 of us, although alittle more then we want to spend next year. We'd like to try something new. Hubby and I are both government employees and could save money at the Swan/Dolphin. I've called twice and still can't get an answer about the rooms. Which one would we need for the 5 of us? What is the standard view like at the Boardwalk? Can't afford the water view. Are there balconies at both of these resorts? Hubby insists on a balcony, his fave part of the Contemp. Do all the deluxe rooms at the AKL have bunk beds, Queen and pull out sofa? One DD insists on the Contemp. I would like to stay there for 4 nites and another for the other 4. Hubby says we waste a day packing/unpacking what are your thoughts on this?

i was in wdw this past july, i was with my folks, we stayed at the wilderness lodge an dloved it. one day my father and i, i am 21 by the way, went to the boardwalk to walk around, and we complained to each other, that the balconies (the ones not facing the water) were directly facing the parking, i mean your looking at cars not trees or anything else, dont get me wrong it was a nice place, but that just annoyed me, disney is expensive enough even for a standard room, they should of designed it a little better, well thats just my opinion, good luck on your decision

what about a room at the boardwalk inn? that would accomodate 5 people! even the YC! if you don't want to face the parking lot then don't get a standard view.

I don't know if I can help much with your choice of resorts, although the Gov. rates at the S/D would be pretty attractive to me; you could probably get 2 rooms for about the same price as other Deluxes, and enjoy some privacy.

I can say that all of the AKL deluxe rooms DO NOT have bunk beds. Some have 2 queens.

I can also put in my 2 cents when it comes to switching resorts. We're big fans of "resort hopping". Yes, you have to pack and unpack, but other than that, the whole process is very easy! Disney will take care of your bags for you (although not to/from the S/D, ibelieve) and you really don't lose much time at all, other than having to check in to the second resort. We love trying different places, so we almost always split our stays!

Good luck with the decision!
