Hi! I'm fairly new to this board. I just discovered it last weekend after making reservations to stay at POP next May. We decided to do the dining plan and now I am trying to figure out where we should eat. We have already booked the Hoop-Dee-Doo for our anniversary. Does anyone have any suggestions of other places? It will be my husband, myself, and our daughter who will be 18 by then. My husband is a very picky eater and doesn't like to try new things. We went to Akershus back in 1992 (our first trip) and my husband absolutely hated it. He felt there was nothing he could eat. He has said he'd like to go to the 50's Prime Time Cafe but hasn't offered any other suggestions. My daughter is currently on a somewhat vegetarian diet but does include fish. By then she may be back to burgers, though. Any suggestions as to where we could go for our other 6 table service meals? Thanks.

whispering canyon is basic"comfort" food and a rowdy ( i think fun) atmosphere
Ohana's has some different food but also grilled beef turkey and pork that is pretty basic ( also cheese potatoes, chicken wings)
most buffets have basic food items so you might try those. Boma has different stuff so that would probably be out.
menus on www.allearsnet.com might help

Definitely look over the menus on allersnet.com as the previous poster said. We love the atmosphere and food at the 50's Prime Time. I am the rare person who always has salmon and it's really good. We also love the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian. You may want to consider a buffet like the Cape May Clam Bake at the Beach Club. They have a large selection of seafood and meat dishes and salads to satisfy everyone.
Good luck deciding.....

For your family I consider the better traditional buffets. Places like the Cape May, Whispering Canyon (not really a buffet, but several traditional choices) Crystal Palace. These places are not what I consider the best food on site, but they are pretty good, and offer a variety.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!!! We just celebrated our 10th at Disney this past April. Make sure you mention when you make your ressies and when you check in at the podium that you are celebrating an anniversary.
Perhaps you'll be in for a few magical surprises!!!!

Thanks everyone! Those are great suggestions. I am going to have him look over the menus and see what he says.

My DF is very traditional with his food tastes, and lives on all american food, pizza, burgers, etc. We like Chef Mickey's and Hollywoord & Vine for breakfast buffets, dinner we tried San Angel Inn and df didn't eat anything but snuck a little off my plate and loved it, so I have convinced him to actually order something this time. We also like Mama Melroe's in MGM great brick oven pizzas, some of the pasta dishes are too outrageous flavors for DF. Old Port Royale at CBR was a great find for a resort resturant and DF loved it.

This time I have a few different TS on our list and DF has promised to at least try something, so we'll just have to wait and see! :goodvibes

Checking the menus is a great idea (and how I often plan). I have some in my group who are not so adventurous. A few places to consider: Liberty Tree Tavern, Garden Grill, Rainforest Cafe, ESPN club, Spoodles, Gullivers (at the Swan), Yachtsman, House of Blues, Wolfgang Puck Cafe or Fulton's. The Flying Fish is a favorite of mine and DH, but entrees are not "basic" fare.

Good luck!
