DH bought me a Canon years ago and it's time for something new, so I've been looking too. I've been interested in the Sony Cyber Shot model ever since I saw some fantastic photos posted on a cruise website of a tour someone took in Italy, and everyone asked him what camera he used - he said the Sony DSC-WX70. His panoramic shots were super special, but of course it
was Italian scenery so that would probably be beautiful any way it was taken.
Consumer Reports says this about it:
This Cyber-shot captures very good quality photos and video. It's also excellent at minimizing the effects of camera shake. It includes a very wide-angle lens, useful for landscapes and group portraits, and can capture 3D photos and panoramas. It also has a large, 3-inch touch screen display.
Good luck camera shopping to both of us!
