Hi

I am looking to buy a new digital camera for my upcoming trip. Please let me know what models you think are good. I am looking to spend in the $200-$250 range.

Thanks for the help!
Mike

DH bought me a Canon years ago and it's time for something new, so I've been looking too. If it will help you any, here is the Consumer Reports recommended models (for "Point and Shoot" digital cameras - they tested lots of models, and most were good but they marked these as recommended). The prices shown are the manufacturers suggested retail, so you can usually beat them by shopping around. ;)

Subcompact digital cameras
Nikon Coolpix S100 $300
Nikon Coolpix S800c $300
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX70 $230
Canon PowerShot S95 $330
Canon PowerShot ELPH 110 HS $230
Panasonic Lumix DMC-3D1 $400
Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ1 $160
Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ5 $200
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH8 $130
Nikon Coolpix S1200pj $350

Compact digital cameras
Nikon Coolpix P310 $250
Canon PowerShot ELPH 510 HS $230
Nikon Coolpix S8200 $200
Nikon Coolpix S8100 $250
Nikon Coolpix L610 $200
Canon PowerShot S110 $450

I've been interested in the Sony Cyber Shot model ever since I saw some fantastic photos posted on a cruise website of a tour someone took in Italy, and everyone asked him what camera he used - he said the Sony DSC-WX70. His panoramic shots were super special, but of course it was Italian scenery so that would probably be beautiful any way it was taken.

Consumer Reports says this about it:
This Cyber-shot captures very good quality photos and video. It's also excellent at minimizing the effects of camera shake. It includes a very wide-angle lens, useful for landscapes and group portraits, and can capture 3D photos and panoramas. It also has a large, 3-inch touch screen display.

Good luck camera shopping to both of us! :)
