What a problem to have I know. We'll be going down for DH's 40th b-day in Feb. 2014. I'm a planner and would like to get my ideas going now. Here's the facts:

1) there will be 5 of us; me, DH, DMIL, DS (will be 8) and DD (will be 5)
2) we'll be doing a split stay; 1/2 at MK and 1/2 at Epcot
3) villas are out b/c of price
4) it will be mid-Feb but we'd still like to try and use the pools
5) will be getting a standard view no matter where we stay

MK - have it narrowed down to GF (MIL's fave) or Poly (my fave). We've never stayed at either. DH's fave is WL but with 5 of us it's out. :sad2: Can't decide btw the 2.

Epcot - have no clue BC, YC or BWI?

Any suggestions?

I know you said villas are out, but you might be able find villa prices to be fairly affordable. 2014 prices obviously haven't come out yet (we are going in early Feb 2013 and prices will probably increase) but I did see villas that were close in price to the regular rooms for December when I was looking at price comparisons. Another one to consider is the new Art of Animation Resort. They have suites with multiple bedrooms and the prices are decent.

From the Disney website:
"All suites have one queen-size bed in the master bedroom and a living room with one double-size Inova TableBed and one double-size sleeper sofa. These suites also offer 2 bathrooms, a mini-kitchen, reading chair and table and chairs. Amenities include a flat-panel TV, in-room wall safe, voice mail, high speed Internet access (additional fee), microwave, compact refrigerator, coffeemaker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. A crib is available upon request."

Personally, with the price you'll be paying at Grand Floridian I'd much rather put that money towards a villa or suite so I would have lots of room with 5 people in a room. I've stayed at Beach Club and loved it, trying out Boardwalk in February. I just want to be walkable distance to Epcot. I have always wanted to stay at Grand Floridian but the price is SO expensive and if I am going to spend all that money I will want to also upgrade to a view of Magic Kingdom, so then we are talking bucket loads of money! lol

For Epcot, we always stay at the BC...rooms are big enough for 5 and u are right there at the back door to Epcot and a boat ride away from DHS...
As far as the MK side, we love the Contemporary the best!! I like WL too, but we also can't do that much $$ per night. And of course, they offer discounts for certain percentages off at certain times, so you might get a good deal. Personally, we did not like the GF...what we paid for the room was not worth it=it was a nice room, but no better than the Poly or the BC as far as space and amenity's per room.
The Poly has beautiful grounds and you are close to each monorail area, we stayed at the Tokelau long house and the rooms are large... we just personally didn't like the dark decor of the room. But that's just us-the local is fantastic tho!!!!

I'd do Poly and BC :) 2 of my faves!
