Hello everyone

My Fiancee and I got engaged earlier this month at the California Grill. I have never created a shadowbox before, but I thought that this would be a great way to recognize that night. I am putting one together as a surprise for her, and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas.

We did the glass slipper engagement and I have an engraved slipper, confetti, and the "Will you marry me?" made out of gumpaste, from that night. I was trying to come up with ideas of how to "Re-Create that night within the shadowbox. This is what I have come up with thus far, feel free to add input and help me put this together!

I have a 10 by 10 by 4 deep shadowbox. I have some etched glass vinyl being cut for the front glass. It has our names and date and this will be stuck to the front of the shadow box. Inside the box on the back wall, I was thinking of making it a firework picture of the castle, since we watched the fireworks directly after our engagement from within the restaurant. On the bottom of the shadowbox I thought to re-create the glass slipper on a doilie with flowers like it came out in the restaurant. The gumpaste "Will you marry?" me could be mounted on the back wall. And the mickey confetti spread across the bottom of the box. What else should I put in there? I have engagement buttons, but Im not sure that they would "fit in". Maybe champagne glasses since they gave us complementary champagne directly afterwards? What about some sort of large ribbon/fabric to use on the bottom?

Please feel free to use your creative minds to help me finsih this I can post pictures when finished.

Thanks everyone

The vision you have set out so far sounds amazing... The champagne glass would be a nice touch.

I might do a large black ribbon or felt at the bottom of the box to make the castle, glass, slipper pop a bit more in the box...

I hope you will share the finished project.

I'm not sure if I would put in the engaged button. On one hand, it fits the theme. But on the other hand, they are really colorful. I think your shadow box seems more elegant (a little color with confetti and castle pic) and I'm wondering if the button would make it seem not as elegant?

I'm not sure the "Will you marry me?" gum paste should be included because it's edible and it could deteriorate or attract insects over time, possibly ruining the whole shadowbox.
Could you include a photo of it, or do a similar cutout?

I included the gumpaste because it should last over time. Its sealed in a box so I doubt the insects could get to it, and apparently since it is pure sugar it wont mold or deteriorate unless its in a humid environment. Worst case scenario it can be removed in the future.

I am not allowed to post attachments yet, but I am basically finished with the box. I am waiting on a fake engagement ring to come in so that I can put it inside the slipper.

Thanks for your input and once I post a picture I would love your input again as to any changes or additions.

For all I know I will get kicked for this... Just trying to post a picture for yall :rolleyes1

Took long enough... Sheesh... Here is the pic! Hope it was worth the wait lol
