Hi!
I hope that its okay to post this here, I'm not sure if I should put this here or the Disabilities board. I have a few questions that I am hoping you brilliant people will be able to give some advice on. I am going to Pick up a DAS for my daughter with ASD. We have used this many times at Disneyland, so I don't see a problem being able to attain one at WDW.

We are going for 9 nights but will only spend 6 days in the parks plus we will visit one or both waterparks. My plan is 2 days in MK, 1/2 day in HS, 1 day in Epcot, 1.5 days in AK. Does this sound reasonable? I have one child who is 50 inches and another who is 44inches.

At the parks: Im not sure which rides to get FP+ for and which ones to get a DAS return time for. I always use a touring plan at Disneyland but being an AP there, I knew extactly which rides to get fp for and which ones to get DAS. WDW is a whole new ballgame. Im not sure how the wait times affect which rides to get fp or das for. My fP+ booking day is coming up so Im trying to get this finalized.

The problem with any trip to WDW, is that you have to make decisions based on what you group will want to see/do. For my trips with my special needs adult sister, I tend to FP+ attractions that tend to have long standby lines. Then I save the DAS for attractions that are not usually that long of lines so our return time in is no 60+ minutes away and we do not have to worry to much about backtracking. If the DAS return is 30 minutes or less, we can usually find something to do in the area, but with 60+ minutes, we probably moved to a different area and have to go back. We might do a DAS return for a longer lined ride, but usually if we are getting ready to get a meal or do something, like a show, where it would not be hard to wait that time.

Remember, after you use the first 3 FP+, you can always do additional. In fact, last June, this worked great in that we would sometimes be able to grab a FP instead of needing to get DAS return.

My sister will not do too many attractions so I will occasionally FP something she will not ride for myself as she likes having alone time in the parks. I am comfortable with her being alone for about 30 minutes, but not for 60+. So, I might FP something like Space or RnR and then meet her afterwards. It might mean she does not use one of her FP, but she does not really care.

We use DAS and FP+ in conjunction with each other and it works out nicely to get at least 4 rides in before DS needs a break.

This is a great thread that outlines FP+ priorities, based on popularity and wait times, in each park. My recommendation would be to look at the lists on this thread and pick your top 4 rides in the higher FP+ priority categories. Pick 3 to initially FP+ and plan on using DAS for the 4th. For MK, 7DMT is the hardest to get, so if it isn't available when you make your initial 3 FP+ reservations, just plan to get a DAS (if 7DMT interests you). We usually plan to walk by our first planned DAS ride first thing so we can get our return time and then do our other FP+ rides. In EP, we will FP+ one tier one ride (Soarin', TT or FEA) and usually plan to DAS one of the other ones.

If you have a list of rides you are interested in each park, feel free to list them here and perhaps we can give you some more detailed ideas on which to FP+, which to DAS and a touring plan that won't have you criss-crossing all over the parks.

So I should add that we will be their May 4 thru May 19th. My dd is a dare devil and will do everything, she infact remembers nearly everything from our trip to the world 4 years ago and wants to do everything that we did back then, including going to Main Street Harmony Shop where my son received his first haircut. My son will do almost within his height requirement with ToT, Space Mt. and Dinosaur being questionable because he's not a fan of dark rides. We will not need rider swap as my parents will be going with us and my mom is willing to wait off on the ride he can't/wont do. One ride that is not on my must do list is Toy Story Mania. Especially with the up in the air questions over fp being available or if it will even be open. We've done that many times at DL so its something we are okay skipping. My dd is 9 and my son is 5. They both love coasters.

We are doing BOG prepark opening. Hoping to rope drop 7DMT. We will also rope drop everyday.
